COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

This starts off with a strong citrus/pine aroma, with a hint of tannin underneath. It pours a slightly cloudy amber, with about a quarter of an inch of head that left great lacing. This has a wonderful bitter taste, with a bit of astringency in it and a nice long finish. This is simply an amazing IPA.

Smells hoppy with both citrus and pine hops and a good amount of sweet malt but not too much. The hops are still the star in the aroma. Appearance is a hazy orange color with a pillowy white head of foam. Good amount of lacing. The taste is absolutely spot on. Reminiscent of Bell’s Two Hearted Ale but with a slightly stronger malt backbone. Hoppy but not ridiculously so. Has a spice note in the background which I enjoyed. Good, but not the #1 IPA in the world. Hate to disagree with RB on this one, but I’ve had better.

2015/02/25 - Pours a clear orange-amber colour with a thick, foamy, off white head that slowly reduces and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, orange, pine, biscuit, earthy tones, mango and pineapple. Taste is grapefruit and orange up front, followed by mango, mild pineapple and biscuit and finishing with pine and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium with average carbonation and a juicy, bitter finish. Very enjoyable. I would definitely revisit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,65 l bottle from Bierkompass, bottled on 2/9/2014. Clear, golden orange with a huge, frothy, stable, white to tan head. Very fruity aroma of passion fruit, mango, grapefruit, orange and tangerine with hints of pepper and biscuits in the background. Unbelievably good! Medium bitter, fruity taste dominated by grapefruit, enriched with flavours of passion fruit, orange, tangerine and mango. Quite long and rather bitter finish with a slightly alcoholic and peppery touch, similar compared to their YuleSmith (Summer) but fortunately muted. Medium to full body, very solid malty backbone, creamy and foaming mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very good IPA: Rich and tasty, very refreshing and fully satisfying. Liked it even better than the mentioned YuleSmith!

Tap at BrewDog Nottingham. Pour is clear gold with a thin frothy head, aroma is fruity, alcohol, caramel, sweetness. Taste is fruity, sweet, some caramel, lingering toffee, gentle bitterness, extremely well-concealed ABV, drinks almost like a Session IPA. Good, but I was expecting a bit more

Bottle pours a deep golden-amber color. Big fluffy off-white head lingers the entire drink. Aromas of pine, earth, fresh cut flowers, light citrusy zest and sweet bread. Taste is a nice crisp floral hop balance...bouquet of flowers...dank pine...light peach and mango...firm malt body never lets the hops get too bitter. Crisp dry finish. A classic!
