Full of scotch notes and a little boozie even compared to the Bourbon Barrel-Aged version.

Cask at O’Brien’s (Night of a Million Zillion Speedways) during the second annual San Diego Beer Week in November 2010. Pours with a pretty good head for a cask beer. Aroma is not surprisingly...whiskey filled oak. It dominates the coffee and malt richness of the normal Speedway, but the coffee still comes through some. Flavor has some whiskey and wood notes which are stronger than the coffee. Alcohol was much more noticeable in this one compared to the other Speedways. Feels light in body to the regular and the variant sample Speedways. Not as good as some of the other samples...I am not crazy about the whiskey nor the seeming lighter body. (6, 572)

On tap at Ritual Tavern during SDBW. Classic flavor profile of Speedway with smooth rich mouthfeel. The scotch and oak flavors are not overpowering and tasty and interesting. Happy to find this surprise.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask @ O’brien’s Night of a Million Zillion Speedways. Looks about the same as the regular version with a smaller head. Aroma is standard Speedway with heavy Whisky and harsh oak. The flavor is about the same, the Whiskey and oak make the beer a bit harsh to me.

Draft at O’brien’s. Dark black pour, small tan head. Oak, chocolate, roasted coffee, scotch, and a some sweet malt. Pretty smoothed out speedway version, good but not spectacular.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on cask at O’brien’s Night of a Million Zillion Speedways. Only got able to get one sample of this one. The appearance is the usual Speedway deep black hue with a medium roasty brown head. The aromas are scotch and spiced wood. The flavors follow with nice scotch flavors, raw oak (although they were heavily toasted) and some chocolate. The mouth and body were a bit thinner with the scotch. Lower on my list tonight but a good beer.

1st rating of this beer, final beer of the lineup of speedways on at o’briens to iniate beer week. Nice scotchy edge to this beer. Surprisingly smooth with intense flavor that comes both from the oak and the Scotch.
