Kopi Luwak Speedway Stout is our award winning year round Speedway Stout with Kopi Luwak Coffee. Considered on of the world’s most expensive and rare coffee varieties, the beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds of the fruit of the coffee cherry. Expertly roasted by San Diego’s Ryan Bros. Cofee leads to an extremely aromatic and excetionally smooth final product that complements Speedway Stout exceptionally well! Good to the last Dropping!

(on tap rbsg 08 at alesmith)black body with a small light brown head.the aroma is much like the original speedway, only with a bit more coffee in the nose.flavor is much of the same although id say the coffee is smoother in this batch compared to the org. speedway.when it comes to coffee stouts,or any other beer for that matter,it really doesnt get any better than this.

I want to enter my original rating and I will when I can, this is an epic beer, I am luckily one of the very few people to try both the original batch of this beer which had a reduced amount of kopi luwak, and the newer batch that had more kopi luwak. Both batches have been exceptional and are both quite amazing. The second batch at O’brien’s I was able to try side by side with the current batch of Speedway and was very happy to see that the distinctions are quite clear. The complexity of this coffee only enhances a beer that by all measure is exceptional in and of itself. Oiriginal Rating: Happy to add this to the site, be first rater, one of the benefits of being local I guess. Anyhoo, Peter and the gang at Alesmith Rock amazingly and brewed this extra special one time batch of Speedway for the 2008 ratebeer summer gathering. This is incredible bar none. Pours black with a light brown head, a very stable head. Nose is full of incredible coffee flavor, burnt coffee and wonderful roastiness. The taste is purely decadent with notes of Coffee, burnt sweet coffee, roastiness, chocolate and a touch of smoke. There is a wonderful lingering coffee taste, I was happy to have 2 glasses of this one time only beer. Incredible brew, my 3rd 5 rating, my 2nd Alesmith 5. Everyone At Alesmith deserves our 100% support and praise for undertaking such a wondrous task for Rate beer and the beer community.

Woodshop 5.0 The perfect stout. Absolutely lives up to the hype and more. Black pour. Aroma...wow. Chocolate galore. Wonderfully fresh ground coffee...and damn good coffee. Some light toffee notes, and more coffee and chocolate. Flavor is so balanced between amazing dark chocolate, coffee, and some earthy bitterness...I am having a hard time putting the flavors into words. It was another world tasting this beer. Kudos and cheers to the guys and Alesmith. Wow.

This was an amazing beer that was produced by Peter for the 2008 festival Rate Beer Summer Gathering. Peter was very generous and supportive to the site to do so. The beer was black with a beautiful dark brown head. The aroma and flavor had gobs of milk chocolate and very smooth full black coffee. The flavor had more of a bitter sweet chocolate than milk. This was more intense, flavorful and delicious than the original. Where this blows away other coffee beers is the smoothness and real taste of fresh coffee. It didn’t have the tart roast or two day spent grind smell/flavor. This was like an amazing cup of coffee with a milk chocolate bar and shot of alcohol in it. Full bodied and silky with great warmth. My wife needs to fill my cup with this every morning. After 7 pours I give this a 10/5/10/5/20

50th rating of the beer. Generously made available on tap by Daknole, Smokepot23, and Peter at AleSmith for RBWG 2011 -- you guys are amazing. My rating will not do this beer justice. Pours obsidian in color with a trim tan head. Smells of roasted coffee from several feet away. Concentrated in flavor and silky on the palate. Tastes of further coffee, sweet malts, and cream. This holy trinity makes for one luxurious beer. Proof that the best ingredients in the best hands create something that exists on a another level. This is the best example of a coffee stout I have yet to encounter.

Marvelous. What’s not to love about chocolate, coffee, and toffee? One of the most satisfying things about this beer, is its ability to have an amazing dark taste, with an incredibly light feel. A very refreshing stout. I am very proud and pleased to make this my first Ratebeer rating. Cheers.

Probably the best stout I have had. Dark and dank, with a beautiful brown head. The aroma is full of amazing coffee scents. the flavor is sweet and malty, roasty and full of coffee deliciousness. To take one of the best imperial stouts in the world and add the Kopi Luwak coffee to it was brilliant.

1% of the total worlds production of this coffee went into this beer. Very difficult to tell this is actually beer. Like nectar of espresso with a dark rich earthy huge blast of coffee aroma and flavor. Sticky but not sweet on the palate. Sampled in a Duvel glass that was perfect as the aroma was outstanding. Much different from the regular Speedway. There is no other coffee stout with more coffee flavor. I’m not a coffee drinker, didn’t matter here. This beer is outstanding. Somewhat similar to the oaked speedway with its creamy texture. In 1 word...Luxurious!
