Fruity aroma, peaches and apricot. Sweet malt start but finishes quite bitter, grapefruit, candi sugar and lightly spiced. Not the best tripel I have tried. swoopjones (1932), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Updated: Jul 24, 2009In short: A sharp phenolic swet tripel. Good
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed fresh a few months after the beer release
The look: A short-lived white head over an almost clear golden body with some small particles.
In long: Nose is yeasty, phenolic, some spicy hops and tangerines. This is not a soft tiple, this is an aggressively sweet beer. Taste of candy sugar, bready malts, dried oranges, a little chemical touch, some pine-tree, biting sharp grassy (green grass) bitterness, unidentified spiciness that seemed to me like a yeast by-product. The mix of chemical character and pine-tree brought a Pine-Sol® sensation. The spiciness was on the salty side and very (too much) mouth-drying. The carbonation is very aggressive and which is appropriate in this beer. I was expecting more from an Alesmith, Mikkeller and Stone Brewing collaboration. Let me repeat that: Alesmith, Mikkeller and Stone Brewing!!! Can you imagine a better threesome? I can, but it has nothing to do with beer.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 13, 2009 With the huge variety of Belgian style ales Tripels are on the lower side of my favorites from the bunch. That being said, this beer rocked! Bottle... Poured golden/orange with a thick white head that had beautiful lacing as it faded down. Spiced hops, tropical fruits, and malts on the nose. Well carbonated palate with grassy and herbal hops, fruity cloves and candy-like malts. Amazingly smooth for almost 9%. Finished light with fruity notes and spiced grains. Lots of spice, corriander, candi malt, apple, pineapple, currants, and cloves, butterscotch, and yeast. Some spiced hop flavor that I didn’t expect in a belgian but appreciated for the imaginative aspect. 1FastSTi (2591), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Pours to a beautiful pale golden body with a tall, lasting, foamy white head and excellent lacing. A nice moderate carbonation. The aroma could be smelled from 2 feet away. Rich yeasty, Belgian, pineapples, coriander, and cloves. The flavor is moderately yeasty with a nice pale malt, sweetened candi sugar, muddled pineapple, and straw-like hay. The palate is nicely carbonated with a long lasting yeasty mouthfeel. Nice dryness. Creamy texture. altehkiller (71), , California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Great belgian tripel. Spicy, yeasty and hoppy. More hops than usual which seems to be stone’s mantra. Not too much alcohol burn. Cheap stuff at 3 bucks for a 12 ounce which makes this a pleasant surprise.
