RBWG, thanks to smokepot23 for sending this for me to share. Red pour. Citrus and spicy hops combine with a nice aroma of caramel malt. Flavor is hoppy and loaded with caramel. Well done for a usually boring style. Alesmith rocks.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to Dak for sharing this growler at RBWG. Pours a reddish amber. Nose is super hoppy, at first I thought this was an IPA. Citrus, light grain and some grassiness. Intense hop flavor up front and a chewy malt body that really holds up well with a rather long bitter finish. Not my thing but this is really well done.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A: The pour is deep amber color with a lot of brown to it. The head is minimal at a little less than a finger’s worth of off-white foam.
S: The nose is almost exactly what I look for in a red ale. Plenty of grapefruit and miscellaneous citrus notes from the hops with a nice toasty and bready malt backbone and a mild pine quality.
T: Fairly similar to the taste with a hit of citrus on the front end, sweet bready and caramel malt in the middle and a bit of bitter pine on the finish. Not quite as good as the aroma, but still quite nice.
M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation and a crisp finish.
D: One of my new favorite beers from Alesmith. It’s unfortunate that this beer isn’t one of their "staples", but I suppose it will make me look forward to the opportunities I get to have it.

Hazy brown pour (which I didn’t expect cause of the name) with a creamy tan head ... lacing ... smell of light piney hop .... sweet malty caramel taste with dark fruits and a hoppy citrus bite .... its thinner than it looks and is very sessionable .... a very good beer

Kinda of a dark brown with a strong hint of red mixed in. Malty aroma with pine and a bit of citrus hops. Very pleasing taste, nice and solid with a hoppy flavored ending that doesn’t really add much bitterness. I expected this to be ok, but ti really turned out to be much nicer than I expected.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Pizza Port (Solana Beach, CA): Poured dark brown with some red highlights if held up to the light. Needless to say I was disappointed with the appearance as my expectations were a lot higher for such a cool name. However, the aroma and taste certainly makes up for it. Very hoppy for an amber. Aroma of citrus and pine perfectly balanced with some dark malts. Flavor is similar- fresh clean pine and citrus hops balancing with a smooth but not cloying maltiness. Delicate hop finish. Drinkability: Simply delicious. Pairing: Wide range of food; chicken, seafood, burgers, and spicy cuisine. I paired it with the Solana Beach pizza served at Pizza Port. Rebuy: Certainly. #287 on 25022010, DG.

Draft @ Father’s Office (Santa Monica). Pours a hazy, dark amber-brown color; creamy light-tan head with excellent lacing. Good amounts of basic fruitiness, toffee, and pleasant earthy bitterness; balanced, moderately dry, pleasant. Medium-to-full body; creamy presence, lively carbonation; pleasantly earthy and citrus bitterness, toffee, nuttiness, and slightly oily malt character; a nicely bitter amber; some sweetness and malty heft at the core; lasting finish of caramel, red fruits, earthy bitterness.
