egajdzis (2963), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 27, 2006 Poured a dark amber color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste of much of the same, with nuts, and a light hoppiness in the finish.
dalekliz (163), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 On tap at the brewery for RBSG 08. Clear, dark brown with a nice, off-white head. Aroma is malty and very nutty. Taste is clean and nutty. Lingering malt flavors. Very tasty. chrisafari (77), Orange, California, USA Aug 20, 2008 Pours dark brown, almost opaque, with a nice thin tan head. Aroma is roasted nuts/malt. Flavor begins sweet and then becomes roasty and carmelly sweet. Flavors of crisp malt and cocoa dominate the palate. By far the best Brown ale out there. JMFG (1117), Florida, USA Aug 17, 2008 On tap @ Alesmith, RBSG. Dark amber color, moderately thick 1 cm head. Nutty aroma backed by earthy hops. Lightly hoppy, nice toasted malt finish. Light carbonation. A very nice brown, touched by enough hops to keep it from being boring. enginaaron (63), San Diego, California, USA Aug 12, 2008 On tap at AleSmith Brewing Co. Fresh aroma with slight chocolate but mostly a bittersweet brown aroma. Sweet taste with low hoppiness, slight astringency. Mildly sharp on the palate with good carbonation. Overall very good and a very tasty low alcohol drink. jasonp (1441), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Aug 9, 2008 Sampled on tap at Alesmith - RBSG ’08, thanks Peter! Pours clear brown with an off-white head. Nice nose of caramel, biscuit, mocha and a tinge of roastiness. Nice brown ale, drinkable and tasty. Notes of mocha, caramel, earth, moderately sweet/moderately bitter - lightly resinous at the very end. Medium, round and creamy with moderate carbonation. Nice beer.
