3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
17.05.2013, 0,65l bottle @ home:
Big longlasting head. Aroma is roasted, yet fruity, roasted grain, nuts, chocolate, dark fruits, coffee, grass, caramel, unripe banana. Taste is very flat compared to the big head, roasted grain, chocolate, roasted nuts, coffee, grass, burnt caramel, hay. Should have had some more bitterness. Fair enough, but a bit disappointing.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma: Brown malt, caramel and nuts.
Appearance: Dark with red highlights and a sturdy light brown head.
Flavor: Roasted malt with coffee.
Palate: medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a dry finish.
Overall: Could use some malt complexity or perhaps a lower attenuating yeast. Good but not great.

a bit disappointing, but still nice. nuttiness is very quiet, mostly get biscuit, cocoa and coffee here on the malt. rather sweet which i dont mind, but seems a little light. still tasty though.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown with a small foamy head, low carbonation. Caramel & chocolate malts in the aroma, with a hazelnut note and some dark fruitiness. A bit sweet for my palate, the bitterness doesn’t really come through. Good quality ale, well crafted, just not my thing.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beatiful brown with ruby hues and a medium, lasting, bubbly creme head. Aroma is nutty, some slight burnt caramel, very nice. Flavor is very nutty, with some balanced sweetness and slight woody notes, coffeish aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, ends really dry, easy drinking. Hope I had this stuff at hand!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.65l bottle. This is a blurry deep dark ruby red beer with a small quite quickly fading and side sticking off-white islandy top. The aroma is not what I would call extreme. Yes there are some traces of nuts and butter, but I was actually expecting a bit more. Only soft hints of chocolate and roasted malts. Think I will leave it in the glass for a while to see if it gets a bit more present when it gets some temperature.
OK, it has been in the glass for about half an hour, and the aroma has developed a bit. The roastiness is clearer, and some nice chocolate paper mixed with traces of tobacco has sprung out. It has a really comfortable light almost cloudy mouthfeel this, and the carbonation is about average. Light roasted flavors, it has a nice soft sweetness, traces of cold coffee but I’m missing the nutty flavor I was expecting. I have to admit that it’s extremely light drinkable this. The aftertaste is leaving a nice milk chocolate flavor that’s lasting for quite a while. All in all a really comfortable non-extreme ale from the legendary Alesmith guys. 23.02.2013

Dark brown pour with a ruby hue and a nice light tan head. Nice malt aroma with a hint of chocolate. The flavor is a mix of malt with a hint of dried fruits and a chocolate finish. Very smooth medium body, this is one hell of a brown ale.
