COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 2013 Great American Beer Festival gold-medal winner, Old Numbskull, has been aging in premium Brandy barrels for the past year to develop its rich and intense flavor profile. The result is an amazingly complex beer that balances the caramel and toasted malt character of Old Numbskull with notes of plum, honey, and oak from the barrel aging process.

wish lister. had the base and bourbon BA versions just a week ago. Bourbon still my favorite, but this was nice. Barreling was for a year plus, but seemed much more subtle than either the bourbon or rye whiskey. nose was balanced between the beer and the barrel. Lots of toasty carmel (not so much hops) coming through, and some fruit and oak. flavor was sweet leaning, but very good as well. warming and delicious

750 ml bottle shared by brokensail at the RBSG grand tasting. Thanks again, Andrew! Pours a cloudy amber with an off-white head that leaves spots of lace in the glass. There is a brandy character throughout this, along with caramel, mixed fruits, oak, tea with honey, plum, oak, and brown sugar. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, sticky mouthfeel. Not the most graceful barrel treatment. Not bad, but they’re usually much better.

750ml bottle. Good variant. Boozy and brandy/caramel date forward but somewat mellowed. Drink this beer now it doesn’t have much longer.

Shared at RBSG 2014. Thanks Andrew! Nose is grapey with some booze. Taste is a smooth boozy maltiness with an alcohol warming. Thick and chewy. Overall very tame.
