Deep brown pour with a thin fading off white head. Earthy sweet and roasty pseudo chocolate malts and a little roast. Smooth and robust Porter flavors with earthy sweetness, a bit of cocoa, roast, a bit of dry black malt and a semisweet and mellow Porter darkness with a kiss more of chocolate.

Draft. Pours a thin, poorly retained beige head, with slight lacing, over a blackish brown (SRM 35) body.....nose is roasted malts, with cocoa, chocolate, hints of coffee, light herbal hops, balance to the malts.......taste is cocoa, chocolate, light coffee, from the roasted malts, hints of toffee/caramel sweetness, slight dried fruit tones reminiscent of cherry, finishing with a light roasted malt hop bitterness, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, medium body, light alcohol, low carbonation. This is a well made Robust Porter. The hops are understated and gentle for an American Robust Porter, it is more English in style. BJCP 8/2/14/4/7

Tap. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted dark chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted malt sweet flavor with a medium malt sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex brew.

On tap at the brewery. It pours almost black with a nice frothy khaki head. The aroma is nice fresh roasted malt, a little coffee and smoke. The flavor is classic chocolate and roasted malt. A little earthy with nice milky sweetness. No harsh acidity. Awesome stuff.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a clear auburn brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, mild coffee character, medium bodied, pretty straightforward robust porter with some mild lingering bitterness to the finish.

8oz on tap at Dutch’s. Clear darker red brown color. Thin off-white sort of tan head, leaving good lace. Toasty malt, bigger dark fruit, some milk chocolate. Touch of papery sort of oxidization-y character (keg was very recently received and dated Feb.). Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick finish. Solid robust porter. True to style. But not at the level of awesome that I expect from Alesmith.

Draught. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is extremely roasty and has some subtle hints of chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet and definitely quite roasty, with hints of chocolaty sweetness at the end. Nice brew.
