Barrel Aged Kopi Luwak Speedway Stout is our award winning year round Speedway Stout with Kopi Luwak Coffee that has been matured in premium bourbon barrels. Considered one of the world’s most expensive and rare coffee varieties, the beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds of the fruit of the coffee cherry. Good to the last dropping!

I can’t remember who I traded with for this one but thank you very much! I can’t honestly say this is much different than the regular BA Speedway. I wish I was able to do all 4 at once but I would have been a bit smashed at that point. I thought I was able to detect some additional sweetness in the standard Kopi Speedway. Here the bourbon adds a ton of sweetness so I just can tell. This beer is still amazing and I’d love to do a side by side with BA Speedway sometime.

pours deep brown with a thin mocha head. aroma has nice toasted coconut, plenty of oak and roast...mild bourbon and coffee. flavor follows suit...sweetness up front...toasted coconut is great...coffee and a bit of dark chocolate...oak and bourbon wihtout booze creeping in for great balance...lots of oak. mouthfeel is medium and the finish is toasty coffee/coconut bourbon and warms softly.

750ml, black foiled bottle, via trade. poured to celebrate the completion of my residency training, this one sits a dense, inky black in the glass capped by a creamy, cocoa head that leaves rich, oily sheets of glass. aroma is spectacular, just so simple and clean, with notes of baker’s chocolate, graham cracker crust, butter pecan icing, vanilla, and toasted oak complemented by roasted malts, fresh ground coffee, figs, cinnamon, and bourbon. flavor is nothing short of perfect, exactly what a barrel aged imperial stout should be, with deep, dense roasted malts, bittersweet coffee beans with a touch of tart fruit, dark chocolate, toffee, and sweet vanilla backed by hints of french toast, ash, toasted coconut, and smooth, oak barrel with a hint of spice. palate is full bodied with a cream mouthfeel and just a marvelous balance that keeps it from being too sweet or too boozy. i still think the regular barrel aged speedway on tap (haven’t opened a bottle yet) is one of the best beers i’ve ever tasted but this is right up there. the guys at Alesmith really know a thing or two about barrel aging. well done.

750mL thanks to cquiroga! Pours ink with yellowish mild foam. Ruby highlights. Nose is cinnamon, salted caramel, milk chocolate truffle. Taste is coconut, vanilla, amaretto, dark chocolate bar. Palate is silky, mild warming alcohol that is not overwhelming. Wife loved it as expected. Really glad I got to try this!

Bottle at Sour & Bitter #2. Black with a small good lacing beige head. Aroma is pretty close to the regular barrel aged version; the coffee is very discreet but adds some light earthy burnt/roasted notes that makes the bourbon less dominating. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body, light fat creamy texture, soft carbonation.

I love the coffee version so much that is almost a let down. The desire to barrel age everything sometimes take away from an already outstanding beer. On its own its fine, but I’d rather take the original.
