4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, vanilla, roasted coffee, and a touch of maple syrup. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head. The flavor starts with chocolate, molasses, and caramel. The finish has vanilla, bourbon, light maple syrup, and faint oak. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a soft mouthfeel. Overall, one of the few that lives up to the hype.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle for rating #5100:   Black, strong deep brownish sudsy frothy head, decent lacing.   Big sweet roasted malt and bourbony nose.   Sweet bourbon like roasted malt nose.   A bit of a bruiser, noticeable alcohol.   Huge sweet
graham cracker, dark chocolate, and roasted malts on the tongue.   Very smooth, and very decadent.   Coffee and bourbon notes are present, but moderate.   Strong roast, sweet graham cracker, and alcohol.   This one is
very much an Imperial Stout with very tasty aspects of bourbon and rich graham cracker.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Bright bourbon and roasted malt finish.   Very minor coffee on the finish.   Odd,
considering this is a Coffee centered Imperial Stout, aged on Bourbon.   Lingering bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla, graham cracker, and heat!   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   While not feeling too heavy, its
roasty, bourbony, and coffee like.   Fairly tasty, but top 50?   After Morning Delight, I have my doubts.   Good, but not stellar.   Big coffee and bourbon notes, bourbon too.   Did I mention bourbon?   By most
standards, a very good Imperial Stout.   Thanks to mashmaster for the bottle!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared at Jack’s Farwell Tasting, massive thanks to Paolo for unearthing a top draw Impy want, 06/08/13.
Mid black with a big dirty tan head that retains well - this chap indeed looks ’the bollocks’!
Nose is roast malt forward, dark chocolate, coffee, dark malts, toffee.
Taste comprises light boozey tones, dark chocolate, subtle coffee notes, oak, bourbonic tones, earthy, light minerals.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, light warming booze in the finish.
Great stuff - a decadent impy for sure, the alcohol was very well integrated. My only grumble - I’d have liked a touch more coffee as I do enjoy a good coffee blast, but I can see why this one is so highly rated in that the subtleness of the Kopi Luwak will win over those not ordinarily a fan of coffee in beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750mL bottle . black with a tan head, fair retention. A little hot in flavor, lots of roast malt, wood and some vanilla. Bitterness peaked at a 3, semi-dry. Very good, but hard to differentiate from regular ba speedway.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle via trade, shared at Jack’s farewell tasting. It pours black with a medium tan head. The nose is earth, rich-roast, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, sweet lactose, creamy and rocky road. The taste is roasty, earth, plenty of coffee, cocoa, fudge, light toast, charred wood, tablet, caramel, chocolate powder and dark fruit. Full body, moderate carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Damn tasty and dangerously drinkable. A well-crafted brew indeed.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Pours black with a huge foamy tan head. Nose is boozy, sweet and a bit hot. Lots of vanilla and butterscotch, but it’s kind of dry and sharp with not a lot of coffee. Real smooth taste, with tons of vanilla and dark roasty malt. Not super pungent coffee, but real bold roastiness. Lots of warmth on the finish, with a caramel and butterscotch sweet finish. Glass-coating thick with smooth carbonation. Tasty, but not the mind-bending experience I was hoping for.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London during Jack’s farewell tasting. Massive thanks to Paul for hunting the WhaleSmith. Pours deep brown-black with a thick, creamy beige head. The aroma holds heavy dark malts, chocolate cake, raisins. Medium to big sweet flavor, lots of sugary dark chocolate, fairly mellow coffee, plenty of dark fruits. Full bodied with fine, tingly carbonation. Warming finish with strong but balanced out dark malt character, rich chocolate, a bit of alcohol, some espresso, rich bread. Great stuff.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to Tom. Pours a deep black with minimal brown head. Aroma is nicely balance between the dessert bourbon and malt notes (chocolate, vanilla, coconut) and the kopi roastiness and vegetal aspects. Nice complexity. Taste is bourbon, chocolate but also very vegetal, roasty and somewhat spicy from the Kopi. Full bodied with med-low carbonation. The barrel treatment attenuate the Kopi effect, it remains a little harsh. Inferior to the regular coffee Speedways, but still a good imperial stout.
