3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a 750ml bottle, thanks to Doug. The spicy coffee aroma is the dominating aroma, slight roast, and chocolate. The flavor is coffee, coconut, spicy, chocolate, bourbon. A nice big rich imperial stout.

Nip bottle mailed to me from an OTLOL Associate. What an odd thing to receive. Pours an inky black hue, dark with firm legs on the swirl. Brownish glow on the edges shows some glow and light. Small loose brownish head dies to a loose ring, laces small. Aromas are chocolate chip cookies, roasty malts and cocoa, some black malt, caramel and sticky toffee. Mellow yet growing barrel shows some spirit heat, vanilla, and oak. A bit sticky, the coffee element comes on more firmly as it warms. A touch hot but stilll quite rich on the nose. Initial is thicker and fulled bodied, some barrel heat hits up front, Bourbon and warmth, oak and vanilla. Melllow roastiness starts to grow. The middle is a touch thicker, getting past the initial barrel onslaught. Toffee, toast, and caramel. Cacao and growing coffee influence. Vanilla, some fudgey qualities. It starts to thin out with some richer coffee, espresso, and dark chocolate influence into the back. Some bigger heat hits the palate at times which is my only knock on this beer. Still, the backend and finish show more Kopi, coffee, espresso and fudge. It’s a hot little item though, firmer barrel heat can be a touch distracting. Still the beer itself is quite tasty. Fun beer, a bit hot.

Bottle shared by Doug, thanks
Appearance: Black with a small tan head and light lacing
Aroma: Woody, oak, bourbon and coffee
Taste: Roasted malts, bourbon, oak, leather and spices
Nice and smooth. I did like the non-barrel aged a little better though, the barrel seemed to thin it out.

First thing, thanks to Stawn! The bottle is amazing, the whole packaging is great. Pours a jet black color with a large deep brown color. A big nose of whiskey and coffee. The flavor is excellent with big hot barrels and whiskey, deep roasted coffee, some vanilla, chocolate. A bit hot and astringent at times from the barrel and that will mellow. Very damn good though as always from AleSmith!

Dark brown, tan head. Aroma of dark bread crusts, coffee. a little dark fruit. Flavor again dark bread crusts with very full mouthfeel, coffee, some baker's chocolate, nutty notes, moderate bourbon barrel note. Very good.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another gracious shar by Richard. Served alongside Kopi Luwak Speedway Stout.
The beer is near black with an oily beige head. The aroma brings bourbon, roast, huge coffee. More aggressive than the standard Kopi Luwak Speedway. Beautiful balance with fresh coffee blending elegantly with a lightly tannic barrel character. Medium bodied, light to medium carbonation. So smooth. Delicious. A world class barrel aged coffee stout.

Most recent vintage. Pungent coffee and toffee aroma. Barrels in the background. Taste opens up bourbony and a bit hot initially; calms itself down quickly, settling into a mature BA stout with coffee in spades. Nearly perfect mouthfeel. Good stuff.

Bottle, 04/10/2013, thanks to bird_machine. Pours black, medium fizzy tan head, settles to a nice crema on the surface, dense ring of lacing. Amazing aroma: powdered cocoa, chocolate brownie, round kopi character well integrated, creamy roast quality, bourbon finish with a bit of heat. Taste is chocolate liqueur, vanilla caramel, coffee with slight acidic edge, bourbon chocolatey finish. Palate is full, rich and smooth, everything well balanced and blended. Wow, fantastic.

Bourbon and a bit of vanilla along with the Kopi in the background. Barrel character dominates but the Kopi is present in the background.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of BLACKIPA! This fucken guy sends me dongs all the fucken time. Fucken a bro. Pours a deep brown appearance with a mild, brown, somewhat bubbly head. Aroma is incredibly potent, even from a few feet away. Big, sweet bourbon, potent coffee, vanilla, toffee, dark chocolate aroma. A fair amount of booze in the flavor but it’s honestly pretty smooth with just a slight burn on the finish. Logs of bourbon, toffee, caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, slightly fruity flavor. Coffee really sticks around nicely in the aftertaste. Definitely my favorite Speedway rendition and really delicious stuff.
