Tap at Alesmith. Pours almost black with beige head and red accents. Aroma is roasted malts, cherry and sweet liquer. Taste is sweet with the cherry and amaretto dominating any bitterness from hops or coffee. Enjoyable as a 4oz pour.

Tap at the brewery - San Diego. Pours clear, dark red-brown with red highlights and a creamy beige head. The nose holds ripe and syrupy dark cherris, hints of chocolate, fruity liqueur. Medium sweet flavor with gooey dark fruits, ripe cherries, Dr. Pepper, some bitter purple grape skins and cherry pits, a bit of alcohol and syrupy chocolate. Medium to full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet and lightly warming to finish with more of the same: rich ripe fruits, berries, syrupy cherry liqueur. Drinks well for the strength. A touch of Childrens’ Tylenol in the aftertaste. Decent but really not on the same level as base Speedway or some of its variants.

Draft sample at the speedway grand prix 2013. Black pour, tan head. Chocolate, moderate cherry flavor, coffee, roast, sweetness, and mild amaretto. A bit medicinal. Decent, but one of the less interesting versions.

mcberko (5998) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2013
On tap at AleSmith, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings subtle cherry, with the usual coffee and roasted malt. Flavour brings out loads of cherry, subtle liqueur, and the usual coffee and roast buried underneath. Quite elegant, but a bit on the sweeter side for my tastes - thankfully these are only small pours. Excellent.

GT2 (8244) - San Diego County, California, USA - NOV 7, 2013
Tap at Alesmith for Speedway Grand Prix. Pour is inky, nice lacing. Nose is muted- low black cherry dark chocolate. perhaps some black cherry liquor but it is forced. Taste is not warming or boozy as expected, maybe a mild alcohol bite from the fresh Speedway. Perhaps a little sweeter than normal Speedway. Overall mellow, but not assertive. One of the weaker offerings in the series today.

pantanap (3351) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 7, 2013
On tap at alesmith... Dark cola stout hue, lesser intense edges and topped with a light beige head...aroma of chocolate and fudge and a mild cherry backing. Touch of nuttiness... Cherry, cocoa, and light roast with a bit medicinal backend. Medium bodied with a bit of an astringent backend. Little warming but smoother than the raspberry with less if a medicinal aspect to it.

badlizard (5539) - Berkeley, California, USA - NOV 7, 2013
On tap at brewery. Black with a creamy tan head. Chocolate, coffee, and roasted grain aroma with subtle cherry notes. Thick creamy sticky palate. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, biscotti, cherry and amaretto with a dry bitter roasted grain finish.
