4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2013 Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate coffee, chocolate, and a hint of black licorice. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a one finger beige head. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate and a hint of black licorice. The finish has moderate - heavy roasted coffee and a touch of vanilla. Itís medium-full bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Back to back with regular Speedway...I thought the regular version tasted better.

2013 750 ml bottle (thanks for sharing, jpdurden24). Pours jet black with a thin, bubbly head and consistent lacing. Lovely aroma of chocolate, perfectly roasted coffee, licorice, and rhubarb with some sweetness throughout. Complex, layered flavor of bakerís chocolate, bitter coffee, a spicy nuttiness, rye, and cinnamon, with a solid malt backbone and an ever-present earthiness. Medium to heavy body with an abrupt nutty, bitter finish. Iíve wanted to try this for years, and the beer came damn close to meeting the hype.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750mL courtesy of Shane. Awesome. Split 2 ways on Fat Tuesday.
A: Viscous pour yields cirrus fluffy cappuccino head. Black like itís afraid of the light. Glass coating legs.
N: Fudge, chocolate, and espresso bean. Vanilla edges. Berries round out the profile nicely. Has the deep lushness of the Kopi Luwak. Slightly nutty. Biscuit and some smoke/char.
T: Sweet and somewhat savory. Very nutty - walnuts and pecans and loads of dark chocolate edged by smoke and leather. Coffee penetrates the soul of this beer as does the clean finish that Kopi Luwak is so famous for having. Hint s of crystallized honey and freshly tilled dirt.
M: Viscous and coating. Alcohol is moderate, but does not burn. Can get slightly overbearing after too much.
O: A deep experience worth having. Layered with depth, this is worthy of the accolades. Donít age.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2013 vintage, shared bottle out of Adam Jacksonís cellar. Canít thank you enough!!
The nose has a strange Earthiness that I can only connect to fresh cut blades of grass. NOT hops but the grass after you cut it and it sat on the ground awhile. The flavor is dark fruits, roast and a finely brewed, subtle coffee bean. Earthy flavors. Unlike any coffee bean I have ever experienced before. The uniqueness of this brew overwhelms me. This is unlike any other coffee stout I have ever had. I do NOT gives ratings like this often. This is worthy.

2013 Release, 750ML in a wine glass at room temp
A - Pours pitch black but not as oily as I expected. Huge 4 finger leathery head that fades to a finger leaving behind really nice lacing very sticky.
S - Nose is very earthy, nutty and roasted. Coffee is there but itís dominated by a very earthy almost dirt like nose with some oak.
T - Wow. I have no idea how to place this. Super acidic coffee bean texture, lots of muddy earthy and nutty notes with a delicate floral finish. This is simply about the coffee taste. Beyond that, milk chocolate, almonds and some cherries. Very rich and decadent and almost delicate like a mudslide meets shot of espresso. I canít really describe it but very tasty.
M - Heavy body although a thin and oily finish. Very delicate and sort of remarkable. Leaves a nutty coffee taste around for a long time after drinking.
O - This is a great coffee stout. Probably one of the best coffee stouts Iíve ever had. Is it just Speedway (which has a great base beer) or is it the "shitty" beans they used? I honestly donít know but wow. Worth seeking out.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A- pitch black with medium mocha tan head. Good lacing.
S-decident coffee is strong with chocolate, espresso, vanilla, leather, rich earth and vegetable notes. Chalk and charcoal on the dry end.
T-rather airy and light, but full of coffee and bakers chocolate. Mocha, vanilla, molasses, earth and the faint sting of alcohol. Tangy cacao comes in the middle. Some sporadic vegetable notes. Ashy dry bitter ending.
M-rich bit light. Full bodied, full of flavor and a little sticky and syrupy with good carb.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Stephenís house thanks to Steve_0. Thanks! Pours a black appearance with a brown head. Slightly green, rich coffee, dark chocolate, roasty aroma. Chocolate, a touch milky, bitter coffee, fairly earthy flavor. Drinks easy enough but not my favorite.
