3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ Stouts Tasting Pt II. The pourís deep brown with a beautiful, tight tan head. You canít deny that Speedway and its variants look gorgeous in the glass. The nose is big, rich roasted malts. Creamy milk chocolate. Rich toffee coffee milkshake. Mild lactose. Hints of char, burnt creme brulee. I donít get much coffee on the nose in this sample. The taste is quite acidic roast espresso bean. Rich earthy malt profile. Burnt caramel-covered brownie. Quite bitter on the finish. Full body, thick and oily. Overall, quite good. Thereís a little too much acidity on the finish for my tastes.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle consumed at THE stouts tasting part 2, acquired via trade. It pours very dark brown with a thick tan head. The nose is rather rich, very earthy, roasted malt, rich coffee, peppery, wood, touch of smoke, toffee and cocoa. The taste is rich-roast, aniseed, liquorice, rich coffee, light acidity, bitter chocolate, some sweet toffee, ash, toast, burnt aspect, pepper and baking cocoa with a bitter, roasty finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Tastes more bitter than regular speedway to me. Interesting and pretty tasty, but I definitely prefer the regular version! I have drank a full bottle of Speedway to myself, but this would be more of a challenge.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Another huge thanks to bman1113vr for sharing this bottle at the pre Big Texas Beer Fest tasting.
Black pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of coffee and chocolate notes with a hint of roasted malt. The flavor is more of the same. I get some great, rich, nutty coffee notes as well as some milk chocolate and roasted malt. The alcohol is very well hidden. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Outstanding.

Bottle, 04/03/2013. Pours black, thick creamy tan head sits there like icing on a cake, dense lacing left as it slowly settles. Aroma is chocolate, smooth roast character, earthy nutty coffee and berry, hints of cocoa the finish. Taste is chocolate, touch of vanilla, roasted malts, nutty espresso bitterness, on the acidic side, and licorice. Full body, just shy of creamy with carbonation cutting in slightly. Very nice.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml bottle courtesy of my buddy deftim13. thanks for this top 50 gem, Tim! pours a deep, dark, brown that sits black in the glass capped by a rich, dense, mocha head that leaves sticky rings of lace on the glass. aroma is absolutely wonderful with some of the most unique coffee notes iíve experienced including mocha espresso, vanilla latte, dark mexican blend, and black roast backed by cocoa powder, amaretto, toasted almonds, and a subtle floral presence. flavor is incredible as well and truly follows the aroma with a blast of mocha, chocolate chip pancakes, and sweet vanilla up front backed by massive notes of roasted espresso with subtle hints of maple, black cherries, and honey coated almonds on the back end. palate is smooth and full bodied with great carbonation and a lingering finish of mocha coffee with a touch of heat. overall, another world class beer from Alesmith, worthy of itís top 50 rating. canít wait for the barrel aged version.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2013 Bottle shared at Bruceís, London during The Stouts Tasting, Pt. II. Big thanks to Paul for this bottle! Pours black with a large, thick, beige cream head. Aroma holds some nice roast, alcohol, cocoa, suggestions of mocha. Medium to big sweet flavor, not cloying, rich, well toasted bread, some earth, dark chocolate, burnt earth, some ashes, hints of dark fruits. Full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish, some ashy-roasty bitterness, bittersweet baking cocoa, very mellow coffee presence, light tangy dark fruits, suggestions of licorice, scorched earth. Very nice overall, though I think I like regular Speedway a bit more.
