Kopi Luwak Speedway Stout is our award winning year round Speedway Stout with Kopi Luwak Coffee. Considered on of the world’s most expensive and rare coffee varieties, the beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds of the fruit of the coffee cherry. Expertly roasted by San Diego’s Ryan Bros. Cofee leads to an extremely aromatic and excetionally smooth final product that complements Speedway Stout exceptionally well! Good to the last Dropping!

Almost black, opaque, thin cappuccino head. Sweet milk chocolate, creamy caramel, smooth roasted coffee, sticky toffee, and hints of vanilla. Initial mild bitterness grows through to the residual black coffee finish. Very smooth and creamy, a little sticky, and gentle alcohol warmth.

Bottle enjoyed @ CBC Frivillig fest. Pours pitch black with a creamy beige head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma is dates, plums, prunes, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, coconut and some earthiness. Flavour is lightly sweet and light bitter. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Finish is the same as the aroma with a nice warming alcohol touch.

Bottle. Pours thick pitch black with thick mocha head. This beer is pure decadence. Aroma has some liquor at first, cocoa, fruity figs, burnt figs, coffee berries. All this on a malty roasty background with tons of fresh pressed coffee and fresh grounded beans. Taste is same, awesome balance. Really fruity coffee, rosy malts, cocoa and chocolate. Quite some fudge and caramel notes. Light body for abv with light carbonation, almost coffee like. Finish is roasty and lasts for a long time. Warming, yet no presence of alcohol.

I had this at O’briens during Beer Week in San Diego. Coffee, Coffee, Coffee. Like an Espresso shot . Jet Black like motor oil, with a toast-brown head. Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation. I liked this beer but it was a bit over the top for me.

Draft at Woodshop 5.0. Many thanks to Chris and those involved for making this beer appear. Pours a very dark, chocolate-brown color; medium brown head with fine-bubbled lacing. Absolutely gorgeous coffee aroma: well-roasted, fresh, non-astringent, with hints of creamy milk chocolate; great nose. Medium-to-full body: very creamy texture, lively acidity, average levels of carbonation, but a lovely appearance in the mouth; loads of well-roasted coffee, chocolate, and a delicately roasted malt presence throughout; very soft, very lovely. Long, long finish of coffee, chocolate, and soft roast.

On tap @ O’brien’s Night of a Million Zillion Speedways. Black with a small creamy mocha head. Aroma of smooth mellow coffee, chocolate, with light notes of earthiness, vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is lots of coffee, chocolate, vanilla and some bitter dark malt. Full body with light carbonation and very long finish. Damn good beer, the coffee aroma and flavor is very strong but not acidic at all. Think I like the regular version slightly better.

Tap at Woodshop. Huge, massive, coffee nose, far exceeding the regular Speedway by a mile. It’s very nice and fresh, the coffee has a good roast to it, but it’s more the quantity that is impressive rather than the quality of the coffee. Beyond the coffee, it’s typical Speedway, which is always very solid. It’s a real shame that so many of the ratings are from handbottles now (which I’ve had and I probably would have rated the bottle in the 3.5 range rather than the 4.3 on tap). It’s a joke, but I guess the tick is the most important part for some people.

[ Courtesy of cgarvieuk ]. Clear dark brown black color with virtually none head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, strong coffee, cacao, coffee, wood - tobacco, moderate alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20110111]

big thanks to someone for this freakin treat of a handbottle. pitch black with a deep khaki head. coffee, roasted malts, more coffee, vanilla, and molasses. crazy thick on the palate, the coffee is insane in this beer, solid coffee flavor, roasted finish, no sign of alcohol at all. WOW
