COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kopi Luwak Speedway Stout is our award winning year round Speedway Stout with Kopi Luwak Coffee. Considered on of the world’s most expensive and rare coffee varieties, the beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds of the fruit of the coffee cherry. Expertly roasted by San Diego’s Ryan Bros. Cofee leads to an extremely aromatic and excetionally smooth final product that complements Speedway Stout exceptionally well! Good to the last Dropping!

Sampled at RBSG ’08, courtesy Peter at Alesmith. Pitch black pour, with a big creamy white-tan head and tons of wet carbonated creamy lacing. Nose is huge on coffee beans, creamy espresso, chocolate. Roasted notes are just big and expressive. Flavor is sublime. Premium coffee, roasted chocolate, ridiculously creamy and unbelievable. Extremely smooth and beyond delicious. Superb.

Ratebeer is making me do it again, another review from memory after this one got dumped from their data-base (the double coffee speedway ought to count too, but this site has become as childish as yelp). I remember this one as having a more distinct coffee taste from the original and a smoother roundness to the texture and taste.

I mean really? Aroma of super amazing coffee, cappuccino and vanilla bean. Taste is amazing. Roasty coffee is just right with chocolate sweetness and a chewy roast nut finish. Perfection.

750mL bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of deep complex coffee notes - amazingly complex and deep - along with a little roast, but the weasel poop shines. Flavour brings out amazingly complex coffee notes - holy shit - never knew a rare, complex coffee could amplify the regular Speedway Stout so much! Other than complex coffee, there are subdued notes roasted malt, and some unsweetened cocoa. Amazingly complex as highly drinkable. The best rendition of Speedway Stout I’ve had. Incredible.

On tap at RBSG 08. Totally black color with a very dark mocha head. Dense and sticky foam adorns the glass. Nose is zesty roasted coffee with a complex chocolate/alcohol note. Flavor is deep semisweet chocolate with an incredible roasted zing. Apparently you get what you pay for with the coffee in this beer, because it’s beautifully complex and rich, and unlike any coffee or coffee beer I’ve ever had. Very thick and luxurious on the palate. Warming with a nice medium finish.

RBSG ’08. Thanks to Peter for going above and beyond the call of duty! Poured rich, deep black with a creamy cap of dark tan head.. I don’t know that I’ve seen a better looking beer. The aroma was semi-sweet with perfectly roasted coffee first and foremost.. dark chocolate and toasty, oatmeal-ey sweetness complemented perfectly.. everything came together flawlessly. The flavor was deep and seductive with rich coffee, dark chocolate, and lighter nutty notes.. coffee bitterness was amplified by the otherwise invisible alcohol presence on the edges, and there was a faint glimmer of smoke.. long, splendid finish. Heavily-bodied with just enough carbonation to perfectly coat all the tastebuds.. dry and smokier on the back.. this was a masterpiece!

Growler gift from Southern Johnny. Wow, Wonderful black pour with think milky tan head. The aromas of Chocolate, vanilla and earth tones had me twitching with delight. A very smooth and well blended taste of coffee, dark chocolate and nuts (Almonds maybe?) The taste was pure ambrosia. I love BEER!

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2011 (on draught at RBWG 2011-Phoenix!). Many, many thanks to Dak and Joe for hooking this up. Pour black with tan head. Coffee aroma is noticeable from a foot or so away. Aroma has loads of coffee and chocolate. Taste is roasty coffee bitterness, but its balanced by the sweet malts. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Finish has a roasted coffee bitterness. The alcohol is well hidden. This is one awesome brew and lived up to the hype for me.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2011 AZRBWG courtesy of Daknole and Smokepot23. The color is very dark brown with mahogany edges all sitting beneath a dark brown head. Aroma shows notes of bittersweet dark chocolate, roasted malt, and fine rich coffee. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of chocolate covered espresso beans, roasted caramel, coffee fudge brownie notes and more coffee. Overall body is full, viscous and finishes with exceptional dark chocolate/roasted malt bitterness. A special thanks to Peter at Alesmith for this treat.
