Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

The definitive stout. Aroma full of thick coffee and chocolate notes, poured obsidian black and velvety with a deep caramel/brown head. Flavor was coffee, chocolate, coffee, chocolate, and then more coffee. Alcohol hard to find as the tastes overwhelms the buds, and overall this is what a stout should be.

Reviewed 8/13/2008 in Coronado - purchased @ South Bay Drug, Joey’s amazing Imperial Beach beer emporium... Pours a licorice/espresso/spent motor oil body. While 1st pour has only a thin wispy head 2nd pour yields big and bountiful pumpernickel/banana nut bread colored head. Impressive. Mild yet abundant scent of coffee beans backed by caramel/cinnamon sugar malt and oily alcohol. Smells nicely ominous. ((eyes rolling into back of head)) Wow. Lots and lots of coffee-Italian roast or darker. Loads of malt and piney piney hops. Warmth brings out more cinnamon sugar and molasses. $#!+ dog! Literally melts on the mouth. First sip or 2 leaves a little tin on the back but this dissipates. Long, sweet sledgehammer of a finish. Awesome stuff but here’s a news flash...not quite sessionable. Drinks invitingly well for its weight class, though.

750mL bottle: apperance is used motor oil black with a slow fading brown head, aroma of chocolate, licorice, roasted malt and who knows what else but its all there, flavor is big in the chocolate and licorice but also has some coffee taste, which I hate coffee but really helps out this brew,

It pours a dark black, color with a thick tan head. There are some small spots along the sides of the glass. the nose is very robust and malty. It tastes like heaven, full of dark malt, creme, chocolate, and roasted coffee. It is nice and full bodied and well balanced. There is a lot of carbonation and has a good finish.

Pours out an impenetrable black colour with a massive mocha head that slowly fades to a sudsy film, leaving behind concentric rings of lace with each sip. The nose is loaded with light roasted coffee, intense milk chocolate, and a hint of smokiness. The flavour is extremely roasted and full of coffee flavour, too. Accompanying flavours of anise, citric hops, bitter dark chocolate and some more dark/fruity coffee in the finish. the mouthfeel is silky smooth, with soft yet prickly carbonation and a super long finish.

Poured into a Klokke Roeland snifter. A- Pours black and opaque with a two finger head that is frothy, soapy and looks like the whipped head of a latte. S- Coffee, smoke, dark chocolate and hops. T- Bitter coffee, chocolate and currants. M- Creamy and slick with a nice carbonation. D- WOW- Almost too drinkable for a 12% superstar! I’m 2/3 of the way through the bottle with a Vacuvin cork in it thinking hmm... This is now my favorite stout! (sorry Old Rasp) What can I say? This is a great tasting beer, I just wish it was more available... maybe not, I do have to work. :)

Big thanks to savvy1982 for sharing this one. And another big thanks to bitbucket for sending this beauty Kyle’s way! Pours like a black hole with a mocha coloured head that takes it’s time appearing, but then grows into a nice one and a half fingered beauty. Nice lacing. Aroma has milk chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate, ash, smoke and a hint of alcohol. Palate starts sweet, then goes bitter, then turns sweet again, and then goes into a long bitter finish. All kinds of chocolate all over this one. Milk, coffee... tuns of coffee, licorice, berries, tar, caramel, and a whole lotta wow! Mouth feel is perfect. This beer is amazing. Totally worth the high praise. This beer will haunt me in my dreams for a long time. GREAT beer! Thanks Kyle!

Rating 100! Woo! Thanks to bitbucket for getting this to me in time for it to be Rating 100! Bottle. Pours an inky black, with a retroactive head: the beer pours without a head, then the head rises up of its own volition. Very cool! Great lacing as well. Held up to the light, it remains equally black, light does not penetrate this beer. Nose is milk chocolate, coffee of many shades, fruit, a certain vinous character. Not as complex as say Struise Black Albert, but huge and immensely pleasing. The palate is so much better than the nose, good as it was. Coffee beans, milk chocolate, espresso, malt, roast, mouthcoating, very well-ntegrated hops. This beer transistions from swet to bitter, then sweet and bitter. Covers a huge range of flavors, and is overall a great big fantastic bastard, without showing more than a trace of alcohol.
