acblue (50), Seattle, Washington, USA May 11, 2009 Bottle. Thick as molasses and black as could be with a rich, tan head that stuck around for quite awhile. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. One of the best pre-tasting impressions I have encountered. Flavor is coffee and caramel with just enough alcohol at the finish to remind you that it’s 12%. Needs to be available in Washington yesterday. BgThang (118), Texas, USA May 8, 2009 This is one of my first stouts that turned me on to russian imperial stouts. This stout is dark as night and has everything you expect in a stout.
raisins plums, coffee, roasty malts, chocolate, and some booze on there as well. One of my favorites in this style
tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA May 7, 2009 I dont care if Speedway Stout was only served out of the anus of a dirty frenchman, I would still crave it nightly.
It poured as black as night, with a medium brown head.
Smells of charred coffee, dark bitter chocolate, and booze. sweet sweet booze.
Its heavy, it will take a darn good time to drink the whole thing.
petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA May 6, 2009 Pitch black with a dark tan head, nice lacing. Nice milk chocolate/coffee burnt malt aroma. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. awesome taste of dark chocolates, expresso, roasted malts with a nicely bitter alcohol tang to finish. My favorite stout for sure blipp (1630), Newark, New Jersey, USA May 4, 2009 Bottle, rating 1300. Pours near black with a chocolate brown head. Roasted malt aroma, with molasses, loads of coffee and a bit of dark chocolate sweetness. The first sip is intense, coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate. Mellows as it warms and your palate gets acclimated, and notes of molasses, dark chocolate and caramel peek through. A nice roasty and lightly hoppy bitterness lingers. Certainly an outstanding beer, and although it isn’t one of my top imp. stouts, I can see why it’s rated so high. mcmd (132), Louisville, Kentucky, USA May 4, 2009 750ml silver wrapping into a large snifter. Pours thick black with a medium to thick mocha head with incredible sudsy lacing. You have to let this one breathe and warm to fully appreciate the aroma. With patience I got milk chocolate, raisins, prunes, port wine, and a good portion of hops.. very complex. Flavor is a roasty milk chocolate with almost a belgian sour quailty with hops and burnt espresso bitterness in the finish, very unique. Nice creamy palate, slightly thin but very drinkable. NagaMorich (10), Pakistan May 4, 2009 Bottled. Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Nose of black coffee , molasses and bitter chocolate. Sweet flavour with coffee, raisins, prunes and roasted malt. Full bodied. Long malty finish with an alcohol bite. Just excellent.
NickTheElder (25), California, USA May 3, 2009 Great beer shared by DuffmanSW’s fresh growler. Lots of coffee and chocolate. Very smooth great beer.
