Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Growler shared with DuffmanSW, NickTheElder, and JoeTheYounger. Pours black with a reddish tint when held to the light and a quickly dissipating mocha head. Aroma is loads of coffee with chocolate, dark dried fruit, and plenty of roastiness. Flavor is mostly coffee and roast with some chocolate and dark fruit and a very nice smooth bitterness. Very dry. Slight alcohol heat. Fresh but in no way harsh. Palate is creamy and perfect, thick with low carbonation. I love me some Speedway.

A shared pour of a 2007 bottle at DLD 09. Pitch black goodness, with a chocolaty coffee and roasted malt nose. Sweet creamy flavor of chocolate with a touch of toffee and coffee. Alcohol wasn’t present, it was just a wonderful sticky lips smooth finish. The flavors popped a bit more as the glass warmed in my hands. It’s not overly complex, but just a fine medium bodied imperial stout. I need more.

Bottle, pours an opaque black with a creamy, light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts with a light hop tone. Flavor is initially sweet malts, chocolate and caramel, then the coffee and roasted malts come out near the back of the palate. Finishes with a bitter tar flavor and a slight alcohol burn. Body is medium to heavy with a smooth, clean mouthfeel. I was hoping for a little more complexity with this one, but it is a solid imperial stout nonetheless.

1pt 9.4oz bottle. Shared with both my bros. Pours dark brown almost black with a very tan head. Smells of coffee, malt, some chocolate, and roasted malt. Tastes of roasted coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla, caramel, prune. Nice bitterness. Very smooth. Excellent body. Lots of alcohol presence.

At the tasting session by Joes. A black colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma of dark fruits, like prunes with coffee and some chocolate. The taste of sweet dark fruits, like cherries and prunes. There is some coffee with notes of chocolate. In the back also some soy bean. There is also a little sour taste. The aftertaste is bitter with sweets.

Rating 1003, so this was supposed to be #1000, however, we opened it, 2008 vintage, and unanimously decide the bottle was cooked. Here is my rating of said cooked beer, which was definitely not the worst top 50 beer we opened tonight. Pours a dark unclear near black brown with a small fizzy tan head. Aroma of coffee, butter, vegetables, faint chocolate and yeast. Flavor follows, a bit cooked, faded coffee and mellow chocolate, buttery, lots of roast, very smooth and balanced, slightly boozy. Not an extreme beer like many of its peers, really well balanced. Not sweet or bitter but just right. Medium/full body, creamy, smooth, faint carbonation, not sticky or chewy. Unfortunate about this bottle because I have 2 more of the same!!! I have decided that I will ice and filter one of those bottle... should be pretty damn good.
