Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Black, faint foam. Roasted, sweet, licoricy and strong aroma. Well roasted. Dry. Full body. Slightly sweet with roasted, almost burned aftertaste. Slightly boozy maybe.

Tap @ WFDP 2016. Pours jet black, with almost no head. Strong aroma of chocolate, some coffee. Taste is moderately sweet, with well marked bitterness. Very oily texture, soft carbonation. Very rich taste and perfectly hidden alcohol.

Shared 25.4 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, caramel, and chocolate. Full-bodied, creamy texture. Dangerously drinkable; I would have never guessed it is 12% ABV. Fantastic.

Aroma: lots of chocolate malt, some coffee; Appearance: pitch black with tan head that dissipates slowly; good lacing; Taste: rich, roasty, boozy, coffee and vanilla notes; very nice; Palate: very heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: excellent quality stout without resorting to flavor additions or barrel aging; would definitely buy again.

Pours a dark brown to black with a half inch head of thick tan foam. Medium carbonation with plenty of lacing. Pleasant aroma of roasted sweet malts and a hint of coffee. Thick, rich, an creamy texture. Very smooth with bold malts and dark chocolate taste. Full mouth feel with lingering flavors. Finishes with a rich roasted coffee taste that isn’t too overpowering. Well balanced and it hides the alcohol well. Very enjoyable.

Probably the best imperial stout I’ve had. Very nice coffee flavor and full bodied. The high alcohol content complements the taste rather than being overly noticeable.
