Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Happy to have found this bottle on a recent trip. Poors like a bottle of ink with a beautiful caramel colored head. Initial taste of chocolate and roasted malts. Perfect stout texture. Feels great on the palate, like a good stout should.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2015 Bottle shared in LA, again on tap. Rich black pour, tan head. Huge chocolate flavour, roastiness, just right mild sweetness up front but finishes clean and not cloying. Warming alcohol finish. Alcohol richness from its 12% - you know drinking this that it isn’t an 8-9% RIS. On tap seems not quite as good as in the bottle. Superb imperial stout.

Nieprzejrzyście czarny, z ładną beżową pianą. Aromat to intensywna kawa i mocna paloność, nuty deserowej czekolady i lekki powiew alkoholu w tle. W smaku bardzo pełne, ponownie popiół i kawa, alkohol jest bardziej nachalny niż w aromacie.

DraftDodger (624) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 14, 2015
Copenhagen 14/10-2015. 50 cl from draft at Søernes Ølbar. Pours dark brown - almost black with small light beige head. Aroma is of chocolate and coffee. Soft carbonation and creamy palate. Taste is very well balanced between sweetness which is not too sugary and rich coffee bitterness. You can sense the quite prominent intensity from the alcohol. A very nice imperial stout you are forced to enjoy at a thoughtful pace.

Where: A gift enjoyed at a tasting event, thanks Maxbier and dlovell2. Appearance: Pours black with a nice creamy head, good coloring. Aroma: Heavy on the coffee and boozy notes, some chocolate and fruits. Taste: Dark malt, cocoas and caramel and creamy with decent hops. Palate: Heavy and smooth and creamy. Awesome. Overall: Much thanks to dlovell2 again, might not drink many better beers than this!

Armas of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, some licorice. Brown black with a lasting, small tan head. Pretty dry, strong, roasty, dark fruit flavors. Full bodied, warming.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2015 Bottle. Tried this numerous time, but never got to rate it due to intoxication. Black with a medium sized dark brown head with good retention and lace. Nose has chalk, mushrooms, chocolate, grain. Flavour has the same things, not very rich, white sugar, grain, chocolate, dust, chalk, vanilla, slightly thin and sugary texture, balanced bitterness, soft carbonation, warming alcohol. Not as harsh as I remember it but overall unremarkable.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with small but stable white head. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee, licorice and dried fruits. In taste fine dark chocolate, some roastiness and dried fruits plus low alcohol harshness. The beer is full bodied, oily and smooth on the palate. Sweet with medium bitter (partially from alcohol) finish. Classic RIS, very good.
