Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Jul 31, 2008 Updated: Jul 20, 2009Wow was this beer worth waiting for. Tons of burnt everything come through throughout the entire beer. Lots of coffee, obviously, but also lots of roasted malt and burnt unsweetened cocoa. Has a perfect amount of sugars for a higher abv beer in that they are noticeable without being sticky. Just great. Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 30, 2008 Updated: Aug 11, 2008Bottle thanks to 1 2many. Pours dark black with brown head. Aroma is strong coffee and chocolate. Flavor is chocolate covered coffee beans. Huge amounts of malt, tons of coffee and chocolate. For all the extreme amounts of flavors, still very smooth. The high ABV is well hidden. 12many (231), Ohio, USA Jul 29, 2008 Bottle. Black with a small durable brown head. Aroma is strictly chocolate and coffee with a pinch of hops that were hard to find. Flavor is very sweet with a small bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Very very smooth and probably one of the most flavorful but drinkable stouts I’ve had. Fantastic. skortila (2877), Bunnik, Netherlands Jul 28, 2008 Bottle @ Dutch Ratebeer Session. Aroma has chocolate, coffee and some licorice. Thick, black coloured beer with a medium, beige head. Taste is sweet with a pleasant bitter finish. It has roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Probably some bourbon in it. Really a good mix between sweetness and bitterness. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Jul 26, 2008 Bottled. Hazy brown color, medium creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolat. Beautiful balance. Coffee taste, roasted. Great stout. bierkoning (5989), La Tropica, Netherlands Jul 22, 2008 Bottle @ DTS. Cream and dark chocolate in the aroma. Roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate in the flavor. Alcohol is well hidden. Earthy hops in the aftertaste. Rather straightforward IS, maybe lacking a bit in complexity, but still a great beer. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pour was a nice thick black with a frothy dark tan head. Roasted malts and coffee with chocolate came through the nose. Starts with a very slight carbonation on the tip tongue, flavor continues the roasted coffee and chocolate theme. Finish is bitter with a coffee like burn. Not a coffee man myself, but was very impressed with its usage here. I enjoyed how the aroma complimented the taste so well with every sip. jerohen (1602), Bussum, Netherlands Jul 20, 2008 Dutch tasting session Bunnik. Opaque, big brown head. Malty, coffee and some chocolate in aroma. Malty flavour, bitter, chocolate again. Lasting bitter finish.
