And the beautiful balance is gone as well. What happened? Bottle@DTS, July 08, 4.1: Nice aroma, blackcurrant, coffee, hint of black chocolate. Opague, brown fine head, good lace. Nice balanced flavor between sweet and roasted bitterness. Alcohol well hidden. oh6gdx (8838), Vasa, Finland
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Bottled. Thick black colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is sweet malts, coffee, chocolate, licirice, alcohol and some sour smoked wood. Also a bit vanilla as it warms up. Flavour is very much the same kicking you in the face while drinking. A very nicely balanced big ABV Imperial stout, which still manages to be both powerful yet so smooth and nice. alobar (1015), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

Powerful aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel and roasted malts. Taste was powerful! Coffee, chocolate, malts, caramel, alcohol. Phenomenal!!! RedSox2004 (354), Pacific Palisades, California, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 12, 2008 To celebrate my FSA. Poured deep solid opaque black with a generous brown head that fell to a solid film that left great lacing all the way. Strong aromas of coffee, chocolate, toasted malts. A sniff of bourbon and licorice is also detectable. Intense but very pleasant coffee flavor is supported by dark chocolate, a bit of licorice, and warmed by the alcohol. Though strong, the alcohol taste is not overpowering, but the effect is a sense of comforting warmth. Full bodied, smooth as silk with slight hops at the finish, this is a classic. Glad I had a reason to celebrate. browner (34), Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, USA

A well balanced Imperial Stout. Typical tones of coffee, dark chocolate, and a wood cask veil made in a very huge recipe. Very dark pour with no carbonation as expected it truly is a world class big beer. Take your time it’s worth it the journey. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 12, 2008 (Bottled, 0.75l, my first sample at PBF 2008) Almost black with a smallish, beige head. Intense aroma of roasted malt, licorice, salty soy sauce. Roasty, almost burned flavor with licorice, roasted coffee, warming alcohol. Full-bodied, low-carbonated, warming palate. A beautifully balanced beer for the Finnish cold summers :). badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2008 A 1.5 year aged bottle, IIRC.
Black in color, light tan head with some lacing. Smell is of cocoa, chocolate, roastiness and a little bit of cream. Much of the same in the taste, long, dry roasty finish. Full bodied, fairly low in carbonation. Overall this was a very good beer, but I think I’d like to try a non-aged bottle for comparison.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Finally, after so long a wait I have tried the Speedway. Thanks footbalm. Pours a dark black body with a thin beige head. The aroma is mostly rich coffee notes. The taste was very good; heaps of mocha ice coffee, some Oak, chocolate, and a very smooth and full mouthfeel. Very good. No notice of the 12% ABV at all. I could drink this for breakfast.
