Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Bottle courtesy Ibrew2or3. Pours black with a large tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of heavy roasted malt, coffee, ash, and smoke. Taste is the same as aroma with tons of caramel and coffee in the finish. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate to strong amount of bitterness and very smooth alcohol. Very goo.

2006 bottle -- Pure black body with a prefectly porportioned dark brown head. Aroma of coffee, hazel nuts, and some roasted malt background, utterly perfect. Taste is outstanding, light initial chocolate flavor that blends into a coffee with light spice accent. Slightly hot ending, probably could have still waited another year or two.. damn. Great stout. Get it if you can.

Very nice stout(I forget who sent this to me, sorry). Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Very complex taste of choc/coffee/alcohol and vanilla. Very nice choc/van finish with alcohol burn.

Smooth as a baby’s ass and with a much better aroma to boot! Beautiful mix of wonderful flavors, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and the list goes on. This is one of the best beers I have ever tried.

Shared w/ Juart. Pours black with a thick frothy head... I’d say about 3 fingers. Doesn’t really lace as much as there is a solid adhesion of head the whole way down to the beer even after the center dissipates. The aroma is a malty carbonic burnt coffee with really bitter chocolate, black cherry, mahogany, and a noticeable alcohol. The flavor has a strong fruity character up front, almost sour, but then dissolves into a strong roasted bitter. Definitely some chocolate and even a touch of caramel. A little vanilla comes through before the bitter hits. The body is questionable as it is a little light, but it makes it more balanced and drinkable than most Impy Stouts.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with, well, no real head to speak of. Rather Kahlua-like in appearance. Smell: Heavily roasted dark malts with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, molasses, and chocolate cake (topped with a cherry). Keyword: Lovely. Taste: Dark, roasty maltiness with full flavors of dark chocolate, birthday cake coated in blackstrap molasses, and (even moreso) robust coffee. Slightly obscured fruitiness. Roasty, earthy bitterness. A flickering of sweet dark caramel in amongst the heavier flavors. A distinct, warming touch of alcohol heat. Long, lingering coffee finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Relatively creamy mouthfeel. Drinkability: A very rich, complex stout, and yet another fantastic release from AleSmith.

(400) Bomber Shared with Naka. Pours black - that’s it. Rich and creamy chocolate milk head, one finger, frothy and inviting. Nose is roast and fruit, chocolate covered raisins, coffee, slight caramel and some alcohol. Taste is fruity up front that leads somehow to a sour taste (lactose maybe?) however mild. This melds well into a slightly burnt, roasty coffee flavor. A solid bitter from the hops mixes well with mild astringency from the roasted malts. Great balance. I think that’s what makes it so good, and so highly rated. It’s not roast/fruit/bitter heavy like some other Impy Stouts. Very good stuff.
