Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Apr 27, 2008 Gorgeous black with tan head. Coffee aromas. Creamy body. Cream is present through ad through making this the beer that most resembles the coffee I drink as opposed to the coffee bean. A superb integration of the coffee and bolstered by an incredibly crafted imperial stout that leaves nothing to be desired except for more. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Apr 24, 2008 Bottle at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours an opaque black with little head. Aroma is huge on roasted coffee and some woodiness. Flavor is loaded with chocolate bitterness, more coffee, and a touch of sweetness. I wish I took more notes, but I definitely enjoyed this one. Luxury (1), California, USA does not count Apr 23, 2008 I’m a huge fan of any beer that has coffee in it. I personally don’t car for the appearance of the bottle. When I first tried it I was skeptical because of the bottle looks, but it is incredible. sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dense black with a beautiful, creamy tan head. Aroma is dominated by bitter coffee, maybe some caramel and malt. Flavor is at first caramel and roast, then the coffee hits, Ends on a dry hop note with coffee. NICE !!! Have one cellaring for a future tasting, I think aging will only make this that much better. boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Apr 19, 2008 750ml bottle: I believe this one dates to 2004: paper label and black foil. This one pours an inky very dark brown. There was a thin tan head that didn’t linger. Rich aroma. Mainly Roasted coffee and chocolate, with hints of sweetness and some dark fruits. WOW: is the taste smooth. It is very full bodied, roasty chocolate caramel, definitely some hops to balance it out, but they are masked. Excellent. brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 19, 2008 the true american king of beers. this beer lives ups to it’s hype. I was so excited when I walked into Hollingshead’s and saw it. I wish I could have aged it longer, but I was too eager to try it. (2008 from bottle.) it’s thick and rich and complex, velvety smooth and bountiful. Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Apr 18, 2008 Pours totally black with a brown head. Very strong coffee and malt aroma. The flavor is very chocolatey and coffeesque with a little malt but not too much. Leaves a smooth taste in your mouth that has you longing for another sip. As it warms the alcohol becomes more pronounced and the malt stands out.Would buy again nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 15, 2008 Updated: Sep 20, 2008Pours like motor oil with a thick brown/ruby head. Loaded with hazelnut, milk cocoa, and coffee. Easily one of my all-time favorite beers -- it’s the best-tasting tranquilizer dart I’ve ever had.
