Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

This is a perfect beer. Drinking liquid chocolate - yet there is no chocolate in this. You can’t taste alcohol a bit. This beer is indescribable. I only gave it a 4.9 in anticipation of the barrel aged stuff. It might be a 5, or not. Pours dark black with brown head that recedes, but leaves lacing all over. Creamy, smooth, beautiful.

Color is black with a toast-colored head like coffee -- appropriate, because it tastes like roasted coffee beans. Great rich, creamy mouthfeel. Full body. Toasty, roasted coffee/espresso taste (and similar bitterness), caramels. Long finish. Easy to drink despite being 12%. It has the bitterness of good coffee and is more about the aroma and feel than a multitude of tastes.

I think this is the best IRS that I have been able to buy anytime I want......super complex malt profile and great coffee flavor and smell

I don’t care what everyone else rated this beer, I’m not a fan of it and here’s why. 1-it tastes like a strong espresso coffee. 2- It has a harsh bitterness and a not-so-pleasant alcoholic/resinous flavor. 3- It’s WAY over-hyped. 4- I paid about 15 bucks plus shipping for this. So overall, yeah, it’s an OK impy stout, but I’m not a huge fan of the coffee and harsh bitterness in this one.

bottle from Dilly Deli - dark pour, dark black body with little tan head. Smells and tastes of coffee but a great smooth, creamy finish. Believe the hype.

Alesmith The Shit: On tap at Alesmith on 08/01/2008. Brewed with Kona Lupe coffee. Dark black body with a medium creamy head. Coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and caramel aroma. Big coffee flavor, chocolate, caramel and light molassas flavor. Full body with medium low carbonation. 8/5/9/4/18 - 4.4 (Not included in overall score) 3/29/2008: Richmond Industry Gathering 2007. Dark black body with a light brown head. Light caramel and roast aroma. Roasted malt, caramel and chocolate in the aroma. 8/5/9/5/16 - 4.3

bottle bought at Spuyten Duyvil Grocery in williamsburg. an amazing little gem. smells coffe with a backdrop of hops. taste is huge. bags of malt flavor, toasted roasted, coffee, cakey, goodness. but equally balanced with hops that go on. my birthday buddy says 100% 100% 100%. it is damned near perfect.
