COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

From a bottle (imperial stout with ryan bros coffee) into a goblet: black color; dense. Brown 1/2 inch head of foam. Bourbon and plum on the nose. It doesn’t say so on the bottle but this must be a barrel aged beer- there is plenty of bourbon barrel aroma and taste. Plum, raisin, molasses are prominent. I am not getting much in the way of coffee or chocolate though. I don’t mind - I think of this as a barrel aged imperial stout and a darn good one at that.

Third at cbc Covent Garden although closer to a half thanks to generous pouring. Very intense. Fantastic stuff. In the vein of old Rasputin and other premium stouts. Great.

On tap at Cerveteca Lisboa, Portugal. Pours pitch black with creamy persistent thin beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, toasted malts, spices. Taste is bittersweet, with long bitter finish. Dark chocolate, toasted bread. Full bodied, average carbonation, alcohol warms. Excellent brew.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2016 Jak mówi? wzorcowy, legendarny stout z Zachodniego Wybrze?a. Sprawdzam. Aromat intryguj?cy, ?wie?e ciasto dro?d?owe (panettone?), trawa, kandyzowana zielenina w typie tataraku (ktgo starszy, ten pami?ta). Piana niedu?a, be?owa, g?sta, szybko opada (12% ABV robi swoje). W smaku skoncentrowana s?odowo??, rodzynki, posmak suszono-owocowy w stylu belgijskich quadrupli. Pocz?tkowa goryczka (jakby kawowa) szybko ust?puje miejsca s?odowo?ci. Generalnie piwo jest troch? jednowymiarowe, s?odowo??, wr?cz s?odycz skutecznie przykrywaj? reszt?. Alkohol znakomicie ukryty. Dobre, ?wietnie si? pije ale nie jaki? zupe?ny RIS-wy top.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2016 On tap at Alesmith brewpub. Jet black. Fruity deep cocoa caramel capuccino. Super bomb deep complex flavors of cocoa, milky malty stout, but the finish is heavy as fuck and hits ya. Surprised and then not. Fanfuckingtastic.
