Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Whoa this is nuts. Aroma is a hint of sourness, roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, prunes/raisins, hints of cooked and oatmeal, and so much more. Flavor hints on a great malty sweet and sour with a roasty malt lingerness with touches of coffee that add just the right amount (not gross overuse of coffee like some), and so much more! Yum!

Bottled 750ml. Courtesy of badlizard. Appearance: It pours a pitch black beer with an average sized dark beige head. Good retention and beautiful lacework. Aroma: A huge amount of coffee which is accompanied by burnt caramel, mint, plum, ginger and candy sugar. Wonderful hops are detectable too. Flavor and palate: Very thick creamy mouthfeel. Smooth. The alcohol is nicely hidden. Tarragon, burnt caramel, strong coffee, plums, ginger and mint toffee showing up. Surprisingly sour. Great hop profile. Coffee, grapefruit and mint in the finish which is pretty dry and lasting for a very long time. Overall impression: A great beer. The finish is absolutely fantastic. Thanks a lot badlizard!

Bottle: Big nose, best nose on a stout I've tried. Coffee and chocolate, emphasis on the coffee, with a high ABV thing. Pours black with a little brown head. Not much carbonation. Like others have said flavor has coffee, molasses, smoke, carmel. Smooth creamy bitter with a warm dry finish. Very tasty indeed.

Bottle. Aroma of alcohol, bitter chocolate, standard coffee. Flavor was coffee, the chocolate, and lots of very nice vinous qualities. Mouthfeel was a bit off for me, odd tingly carbonation, unusually clean for an impy, not at all rich and creamy, even when I tried to swirl out the carbonation that was throwing me off. All that vinousness reveals this beer to me as unquestionably worthy, but I can’t say I was nearly as impressed as a 4.35 would suggest. Rerate, bottle. Very different mouthfeel this time, low carbonation, but instead overly muddy; this may be the first time I’ve really gotten a "motor oil" feel from an impy. Still has some nice coffee and chocolate notes, but not as clean as many in the style.

Jet black, motor oil pour. Thick, dense, creamy, light brown head. Just a couple yeast flounders resting at the bottom. Aroma of roasty coffee beans, bittersweet chocolate and licorice, rich malt, dark fruits, and subtle alcohol. Same flavor with some smokey ash, added depth from the yeast, nice hops in a finish that is roasty, bitter, and a bit alcoholic. Full body, creamy yet balanced. All the flavors linger on for an impressive aftertaste. A nearly perfect imperial stout.

2008 bottle. Wow, at the time this was the best beer I had ever tasted. That lasted for about 1 minute until I took my first sip of Dark Lord (side-by-side tasting). Absolutely phenomenal beer. They do not get much better than this. Viscous and black with a small brown head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malt, some hops. Flavor is INTENSE coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, and well-balanced hop bitterness. Full mouthfeel, not quite as full as Dark Lord, but full in comparison to your average RIS. Drinkable for what it is, almost sickeningly so.
