4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
As far as my stout contest this weekend, Speedway wins by about a full car length. If I took the best of @foundersbrewing #kbs and @bellsbrewery #expeditionstout #speedwaystout is the answer! This beer is such a beauty from initial pour and appearance to the pleasant aroma of chocolate cherries covered in smoke to the euphoric creamy vanilla coffee char taste. It’s to believe this stout is 12% now I need to try BA Speedway Stout and Dark Lord.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
It’s unbelievably hard not to make motor oil puns to describe Speedway Stout’s appearance, but I’ll do my best. Alesmith’s Imperial Stout pours black and viscous (and bears absolutely no resemblance to a certain automotive product). What’s impressive is that this brew manages to be both effervescent and thick. This beer is heavy yet heady. Rich and full-bodied yet smooth and balanced. Floral coffee aroma is beautiful. Flavor has roasted malt and fresh coffee in equal measure. For a Stout with this much booze, Speedway Stout is even-tempered and extremely drinkable. This classic coffee brew deserves its fame and adoration.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A- Coffee, chocolate, roasty.
A- Black color, dark liquid, light brown head.
T- Bitter coffee, chocolate, roasty, creamy.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty bitter finish.
O- Pretty high expectations for this one and while it didn’t disappoint it wasn’t a mind blower either. Lots of coffee in here but it’s more of a mellow slightly bitter black coffee taste. Other than that I didn’t get a whole lot of other notes in here. The bottle was pretty fresh so maybe some aging on it would bring things out a bit more.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Yields a slick viscous black color, with a unique, very bubbly mohagony head.
Smells big times of cocoa, fudge and coffee, wrapped up by syrup and toffeeish malts. Has a whiff of alcohol underneath, providing a caramel burn. The aromas exhibit an interesting interplay between milk chocolate and coffee, leaning even more on chocolate.
Has a fitting, lower carbonation, complimenting the beers medium body.
Tastes of bakers chocolate and smooth coffee, accompanied by bready malts, also revealing glazed caramel. Drinks throughout smooth, coffee comes along with lots of cream, adding a dry bitterness, which gets countered by alcoholic, biting molasses. Finishes with a well pronounced boiled coffee bitterness, while chocolate adds depth, including a subtle sourness.
The beers convinces by its smooth coffee mouthfeel, which gets a lot of depth, due to the luscious chocolate, commuting between sweet and dry. The beers finish is unusually long and complex, revealing crushed coffee beans, toffee, mousse au chocolate among a coffee milk sourness.
