Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Finally tried this beer poured from a large bottle purchased in San Diego into a small beer-tasting glass. The beer had a thick, syrupy, viscous black body with an average-sized, creamy, dark tan had with tons of cling, great lacing and good retention. The beer had a strong coffee hops aroma with roasty chocolate and caramel malt notes, along with a lighter earthy and grainy hops blend with touches of molasses. Its taste had a rich malty coffee effect with a light sweetness, and a mostly-bitter after-effect with a presence of alcohol and touches of roasted chocolate and caramel. The body had a syrupy texture and was very thick with a filling mouthfeel, low carbonation, and was quite intense and dense with a heavy body. Great beer, shared over Colonia Nights.

Tap@taphouse, Copenhagen - (Can’t believe this is my first time having the base brew having had many other variants) anyway - pours black as night with a thin tan head. Aroma can taste is roasted malty, with big bold chocolate and coffee notes, caramel, liquorice, brown sugar, some dark dried fruity notes. some nice burnt malty notes, smooth mouthfeel, lovely stuff.

kran w jabeerwocky. czarny, oleisty, z niewielka piana. W aromacie bogato, czekoladowo, kawowo, palenie, alkoholowo, ciemne owoce (bardziej wisnie niz sliwki), nieco karmelu, troche pumpernikla... ladnie to wszystko komponuje sie. w ustach analogicznie, alkohol ewidentny, ale w ten pozytywny sposob. w slodka strone w smaku, odczuwalna choc niewysoka goryczka. Zaskakujaco lekki, latwo pijalny - byc moze to zasluga nieduzej ilosci ciala, choc jak dla mnie wolalbym go wiecej. klasa piwo.

Nera, densa, oleosa. Note di caffč, cioccolato dolce, cacao, malto abbrustolito; gusto rotondo e perfettamente equilibrato, di facile beva. Me l’aspettavo piů intensa ma č molto ben bilanciata.

Bottle, 750ml. A pitch black beer with a medium size brown head. Aroma is of dark chocolate, black coffee, mint chocolate, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is bitter with a strong roasted coffee character. Double aftertaste of dark chocolate, nuts and black coffee. Robust bodied with carbonation and astringency and a slightly milky finish. A one of a kind Stout

Bottle, 75cl. Opaque dark brown with a frotrhy brown head and intricate lacing. Deep, complex aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruits, nuts, toffee. Medium to robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Rich and creamy, with unbelievable malt character and a heavy coffee and alcohol bitter finish. Utterly magnificent.

So now I got 999 unique beers at Untappd. Just GOT to try something beatiful for 1000!
Whith the upcoming Swedish Porterfestival in Gothenburg tomorrow I thougt a dark beer should be appropriate.

I chose AleSmith Speedway Stout from my beercellar. 100/100 at ratebeer is not bad...

The beer pours dark brown to black with a two finger high beige head.

Nose: Halleluja! Toffee, dark chocolate, coffee, fudge, caramel malt, brown sugar, vanilla, cookies and licorice.
Taste: Roasted malt, coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla, sweet caramel, smoke, licorice and tobacco.
Body: Medium to full body. Light carbonated. Complex, smooth texture. Dry ending.

This is beatiful!

I’m glad this was my 1000 unique beer!
