This Scottish-inspired deep mahogany-colored ale showcases a rich, malty flavor profile of caramel and toffee offset by hints of roast and subtle smoke. The complex malty sweetness includes notes of dark fruit balanced by a subdued hop bitterness. Wee Heavy is incredibly nuanced and in a class of its own in terms of balance and sophistication. It ages very well and will keep improving for years to come.

No "J P Gray’s" on the bottle, but I’ve read it’s the same beer. Excellent biscuitty, bready malt aroma. Deep auburn color under a light tan head. Flavor is dominated by the caramel malt, but some peat flavors and chocolate malts poke through as well. The alcohol is slightly more apparent than I had expected, but it’s still a wonderful beer.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2016 75cl bottle at home, bottled 02/20/2014. Very dark brown colour, light brown head. Rich dried fruits like figs and raisins in the nose, bitter dark chocolate edge too: taste is likewise, caramel/toffee sweet, spicy, liquorice, maybe a bit smokey, lingers beautifully fruity and sweet but can’t really appreciate the bitterness. Full bodied, sticky mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
