COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

More on the yellower side for a pale ale. Somewhat of a mix between a pale ale and a lager, appearance wise. A light hoppy aroma and a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness in taste - very refreshing. One of my personal favorite pale ales.

22 oz bomber. Foamy head, good retention, tons of lacing. Aroma is light, mostly hops. Very thin on the palate and somewhat lacking in flavor and complexity. A decent beer, but compared to other AleSmith beers it was disappointing.

One of the better sessionable beers I’ve ever had. I’m really impressed with these guys. Crisp, citrus hops are at the forefront, but not at all overbearing. For one of their standard brews, this is really good. Nothing outstanding by comparison with the elites, but within its category? This stuff is dang tasty.

The Dan Journal #357. Tasted 6/14/10. 22oz bomber. Hazy with a golden hue. Lacing bright white head. Aromas of citrus hops. Lotta lemon and lime with a touch of marshmallow sweetness. Medium bodied with a bitter and sticky palate. Tart and muted dry finish. Tangy, bright acrid effervescence. Big hop flavors yet still very drinkable. Quality!

Bomber from the hbchemistry on BA - thanks, Lindsey! Cloudy pale gold pour, with tons o’ carb. Soft bubblegum and citrus nose is very inviting, nice to just linger over this for a while. Light bodied and prickly, as is probably appropriate for the beer. The flavor is much more dry than the nose would indicate, with a light and papery finish that’s backed by flavors of lemon rind and pine. Killer summer quencher, wish it was available locally.

22oz in bordeaux glass. Clear gold with immense, lasting white foam. Phenolic/dust and mango nose. Understated flavors of stonefruit and pepper. Thin and dry with tons of carbonation, but somehow balanced.

Great aroma, very hoppy. The appearance is a golden yellow. Lighter than I expected. Nice balance with a great finish. Would highly recommend.

Appearance: Golden orange color that is a bit cloudy and crowned with a lush billowy white head. Loads of retention and lacing. Smell: The nose is loads of grapefruit and other forms of citrus. Taste: Pale malt up front with a strong grapefruit hop component. Quite crisp and clean considering how hoppy it is. Mouthfeel: Crisp clean mouthfeel with a solid amount of carbonation and a medium body. Drinkability: Seriously easy session beer with a nice hop profile.
