COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People’s Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2015 650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.25. Pale golden colour, only the faintest haziness. Large to moderate white head. Distinct aroma of American hops, notes of tropical fruits, citrus and pine, some caramel. Refreshing flavour, with the same elements as in the aroma. Well balanced, good beer.

Taster at Fat Angel, SF. Pours clear straw honey with a lemon head. Nose is citrus, pine resin, orange peel, and hints of grapefruit. Flavour follows the nose. Clean and crisp. Perfect patio ale.

Clear golden with a foamy white head that leaves a lot of sticky lacing. The aroma is a blast of PNW hops. There’s a lot of pine, resin, citrus, and floral notes. The malt is sweet and pretty neutral in therms of flavor. The hop flavor is definitely more mellow than the aroma. Comes off a little over dry hopped but all in all not bad.

A Titan of Tastiness, a Bubbling Behemoth of Bacchanalian Bravado. A good beer. Exceedingly clear honey blonde with a hefty white froth. Provoking notes of grapefruit, clementine, mild piney dank, honey and cereal make the nose one to reckon with; the taste matches perfectly and leans on the bitter side of bittersweet. A smooth medium body with mid-high carbonation, this fine-ass Pale Ale ends with a honey-lemon note that begs for a Summer evening.

Poured into Sam Adams Perfect pint showing about a finger and half of clean white foam and pours golden clear. The nose shows clean and fresh tropical and exotic fruits (e.g. pineapple, mango) with hints of cannabis and pine. The palate is medium bodied and very fruit forward - a lot of fresh tropical fruit flavors. The mids show slight malt sweetiness. Slight bitterness at the end rounds off the pale ale. Great beer to start a session and even better fresh during a warmer season. As a pale ale, this is almost perfect.

Pours orange with a white rocky head. Aromas of citrus and pine. Bitter up-front with a pale malt flavor. Very light body and clean tasting with a lingering bitterness. This is a light pale ale at its best without being over-hopped. Very clean and very good.

Another example why Alesmith is considered one of the best breweries in the world. Smells, looks, and tastes like the benchmark beer it is.
