Bottle on 1/1/09. Another winner from Alesmith. Gold pour with an off white head which leaves good lacing. Lemon hops dominate the aroma. Flavor is a little weak but balanced of lemon, grapefruit and floral hops. Slightly bitter and a light mouthfeel.

A citrussy aroma to it. An light amber color with a good head. A relly nice pale ale, one of the better that I have had. Very grapefruit taste to it at first.

From the tap poured amber with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a quick finish.

22oz Bottle... Poured clear, straw color with a beige head. I’ve been suffering from a cold so the aroma wasn’t as true to me as it would, but contained some noticeable floral hops. Foamy mouth feel that wasn’t overly dry with a nice softness. It was really balanced with malted, biscuit notes and a hop bitterness. You could tell this was made with some HQ ingredients.

Bottle, pours a slightly hazy, gold body with generous, white foam head. Aroma of sweet grapefruit and citrus hops along with a hint of green hops. Taste is bitter grapefruit with a slight hint of green and pine hops. Well-balanced and light bodied. Finishes with a bitter lemon citrus character along with a hint of aspirin that never gets too annoying.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2010 Draught at Alesmith. Obviously hoppy in the aroma and flavour but also balanced with a nice malt backbone. The hops were very fruity, citrusy and predominantly grapefruit. Not overpowering at all but there the whole time. Surpisingly easy to drink.

22oz bomber courtesy of BrewerB poured into a pint glass.
Popping the cap produces a huge explosion of white foam that comes out of the bottle before I can get to the glass. With the pour, there’s a huge fluffy white head on top of a bright, slightly hazy gold. The head recedes slowly to a cap and leaves tons of lacing.
Aroma is dominated by light fruity hops, especially lemon zest and apricots. It’s balanced a bit by some bready malts underneath.
The taste also starts with a puckering lemony hop bitterness that has only a slight malty presence up front. The finish also has a lemony bitterness that lingers for a while.
The mouthfeel is very light and crisp with a light bitterness from the citrus hops. Maybe a tad too much carbonation but that’s nitpicking.
A very light and extremely drinkable APA that really goes down easy. Alesmith can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned and this is no exception. Tasty.

The clear golden body shines brightly in the light, a dense pillow of off-white foam displaying nice retention. Organic splatters of lacing look like amoebas clinging to the glass. The aroma shows a really light and fresh grainy malt background with hints of honey and caramelized sugar. Crisp orange and grapefruit hops show fresher, brighter, and more prominent than probably 90% of IPAs on the market. Flavors are well balanced, honey glazed wheat and light biscuit malts countered by pithy orange and bitter lemon. Medium bodied, with balanced carbonation, the mouthfeel is semi-dry, with lingering citrusy bitterness. Just another beautiful day at the office for the folks at Alesmith.
