COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Nothing wrong with this pale. Aroma is crisp with cracker, citrus, and grass all light. Taste is more of the same with light sweetness, no bitterness to be had, and a slightly citrusy acidic finish.

Bottle with Nate. Pine, lemon, malts. Sweet and then bitter, finishes dry. Not enough presence on the palate.

22oz bottle from Belmont Station. Pours a bright, clear, light amber color with a white head and a little lacing. Aroma is Malty, pine hops, a little fruity. Medium on the palate with smooth carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, a little pine hop bitterness, with a malty sweet finish. I think this one’s past it’s prime. Rerate when possible.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2012 (Bottle) Pours golden with an off-white head. The aroma hold ripe apricot, pineapple juice, raw citrus, spicy pine and grass. Tight and toasted malt backdrop. A touch of plastic. The flavour is light sweet, near medium bitter and tiny acidic. Pine and citrus up front with a ligh toasted malt backbone. The mouthfeel is clean, tight and smooth with a near medium carbonation. Citric and piny finish. Light to medium bodied. Simple and fantastic.

Solid, smells very fruity, very hoppy, and floral. Taste is hoppy and dry, but thirst quenching, simple, but enough there to keep it interesting, mainly hoppy, bitter, and dry, tastes like a stripped down IPA. Excellent.

Phone rate. Cask at Alesmith. Clear pale golden with a creamy one finger head, good retention. Citrus nose with some lightly resiny pine behind, a little Cascade sweatiness. Flavor follows with some light biscuit malt, bitterness peaked at a 4, dry. Cask carbonation with a light body. Tasty and sessionable, straight forward. No idea how I hadn’t rated this yet.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, hops, citrus, pine, slight grapefruit, slight toffee, and other fruits. Poured amber in color with a small, white head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of small, and a few medium-sized particles throughout. Good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malt, light caramel, hops, light citrus, light toasting, and grain. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, hop, grain finish is dry.

Orange wityh a nice white head. Aroma has nice citrus and lemon notes with a mild malty background. Medium body. Flavor is mostly citrus lemon and pine with a noticeable toasty malt profile and a real light earth tone. Finish is lightly bitter. Very nice beer.
