COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Very subtle grapefruit hop aroma, not much else really. The beer is a pale golden with a frothy 1/4 inch head that lasted throughout. The flavor is some more subtle citrus hops with a balancing lightly sweet malt presence. This is a very drinkable ale, as it is very well balanced and not too resiny or heavy on the palate.

This was a very mellow beer that was easily drinkable, very light gold color with fluffy pure white head. Not much of an exciting aroma, but the flavors of hops and sweet malts, followed by a lemon-peel finish was nicely rounded. A good standard Pale Ale.

From Sickboy282. Another great beer from Alex and this brewery. I don’t think this beer gets the cred it deserves because of the low abv, but it is fantastic. Super citrusy, great light orange color, a little thin, but not too think to detract from the overall experience. Loved it. Wish I had more.

22 oz. bottle from WeeHeavySD. This a great looking beer - clear gold, big creamy white head that sustains itself well and leaves fine lace. Fresh citrus and spruce aroma over some apricot and orange. Light to medium body and carbonation, clean dry palate. Light brown sugar and toffee flavors give way quickly to an assertive orange zest bitterness that is both refreshing and satisfying. I wish I could get this locally.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2008 Very pale blonde/golden colour. Thick white head. Very fresh pale malt aroma. Fruity hops, grapefruit and lemon, a bit of mango and citrus. Also a nice kick of pininess. Very lean malts, with a fairly dry finish on the back. When fresh, it is quite a lovely APA, but the hoppiness does have a way of fading. Very clean and very crisp. A lovely brew.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2007 Pours clear golden color with a medium white head. Aroma of orange and lemon with a touch of malt. Taste is citris and pine with an undercurrent of malt for balance. Very clean and bright with a dry finish. Almost champagne like. Good stuff Maynard.
