Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Bottle thanks to Saarlander: Pours a pale gold with a bit soft white head. Aroma, light citrus notes, bready malts, and some floral notes as well. Flavor, bready pale malts up front, with some lemon and spices. There is a floral, herbal, piny bitterness to it. Very smooth and refreshing. Good stuff.

Bottle thanks to kegbear. Aroma is some hops with a little citris. The taste is just incredibly lemony and wonderful. Almost like the best lemony kitchen cleaner you’ve ever smelled being made into a beer taste. There is almost some peach in the first taste and then the citrus just takes over and goes from there. Leaves a fresh, dry taste in your mouth. Incredible! Would buy again

22 oz bottle from BevMo in Orange County. The head got away from me, but after it settled down, a really enjoyable Pale Ale. Spectacular aroma. Really smooth on the tongue, not too heavy on the alcohol, grapefruit and lime flavors.

Bomber. Poured a light golden amber with a small white head. The nose was floral hops. First thing I noticed was how bubbly it was. A nice little change from typical apa’s. I liked the hop flavor, but there was more to it. I tasted some sort of peppery twang towards the middle, I guess that was part of the sweet and sour description. The finish was bitter and dry. Nice beer.

Bomber, thanks doubleo! Pours a very light golden color with a big fizzy white head that recedes pretty quickly. Aroma is lots of hops, citrus and resin. Lots of hops bitterness in the flavor too, with just a touch of the citrus. Quite tasty, I wish I could get this one regularly, cuz I’d drink a LOT of it :).
