COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People’s Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Pours a slightly hazy gold with a 2 figner, creamy off white head. Aroma some citrus, pine, light floral and herbal hops, husky grain, hay, hints of bread and cereal. Flavors has lots of cereal, somewhat sweet, citrus, pine and herbal hops, toast, hay, fresh cut grass, fruity and bready yeast and bitter citrus and mineral notes to the finish. Very clean, fairly complex and refreshing. Good to great beer.

Pours a cloudy, light golden-yellow, with smallish, quickly-dissipating head. Aroma is quite grassy. Flavor is grassy, with some sweetness. Not a huge amount of hops in either aroma or flavor. It’s pleasant, but not too remarkable.

Big bottle. Pours yellow-golden with off-white head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, a lot of tropical fruits, lemon, mandarin, and malt. Flavor is also tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit, lemon, and malt. Finish is grapefruit bitter. Body is rather watery. Overall: very nice. I would love to try fresher sample.

Butelka 650ml. OCZY : jasne, lekko zamglone o kolorze złotym. Piana jest średnia i trwała o kolorze białym. NOS : po otwarciu pierwszy aromat wywołał u mnie skojarzenie irlandzkiego likieru Baileys. W szklance piwo emanuje mocnym chmieleniem o nutach skórki pompelo, jałowca, trawy cytrynowej. Równie mocne są aromaty żywiczne, biszkopta, żółtka i lodów śmietankowych. Do tego wanilia. USTA : średnio gazowane o kremowej konsystencji i tłustej teksturze. Piwo jest mocne w smaku. Nuty słodowe to słodki biszkopt. Sporo jest mlecznych nut o waniliowych niuansach, które lekko kwaśnieją i przy końcu, razem z chmielem cierpną. Gorzkość jest wystarczająco silna by zrównoważyć to piwo. Przypomina skórki i pestki cytrusów.

Robe blonde, jolie mousse. Bien équilibrée, des arômes de citron, de fruits exotiques, de miel. Amčre comme il faut et bien houblonnée pour une bičre assez légčre en alcool. Un semble fort appréciable...

22 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Raleigh, NC (Triangle). Yellowish-orange pour with a frothy white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine needles. Beautiful bitter taste of grapefruit rind, wet grass, pine, and tangerine. Light bodied and very bitter for a pale ale. Great beer and one of the best American Pale Ale’s I have ever tried.

Pours a golden yellow with an effervescent thick white head. Excellent lacing. Aromas of hops and light citrus (orange and lemon). A lighter IPA with a pleasant smooth and slightly sweet flavor of citrus. A hint of metallic undertone, especially in the lasting aftertaste. A nice, easy summer day beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Botella de 65 cl, adquirida en tienda XXXII. Color dorado. Sabor a lupulo, ligeramente citrico y resinoso. Muy refrescante y facil de beber. Recuerda al sabor de una IPA.

22 oz bottled 10+ months ago from Coconuts. Light orange and pretty clear appearance with a lacy beige head. Pretty nice aroma actually, considering its age. Tropical notes, citrusy hops, pine and light resin. Similar flavor, adding moderate bitterness and a husky, musty finish. Medium body. This held up pretty well. I’ll have to try a fresh one next time.

Bottle: Supposedly fresh. Hazy, golden-orange body with a volumetric, chunky & foamy eggshell cap. Five fingers at least. Spicy, herbaceous pine cone aroma with some bitter fruit zest & a moderately crisp, bready & yeast filled finish. More spicy pine on the palate with vaguel fruit peels bringing a stingy bitterness. Mild florals lingering into the aftertaste over a bready underbody. Carbonation is overdone, the beer literally has no body once it hits your tongue; it nearly evaporates. A decent beer, but not great. I had a bottle of this very early in my craft days (before rating) & remember liking it much more.

On tap at Ridgewood (Raleigh). Pours a nice clear light amber with a finger or so of head. Mild, crisp aroma. Mild taste - maybe too mild - with a touch of bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
