COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People’s Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Clear, bright light orange body and a big, soapy, bright white head. Clean malt and lemony hops dominate, with very light and drying resinous aftertastes and just a hint of alcohol near room temperature. Light and clean palate that does not overwhelm given all of the flavor this beer possesses. Usually, my palate is saturated by overwhelming pale ales, but this APA is one that I can have several of and walk away with a fairly clean palate, even going back to lighter styles like a kolsch or pils.

660ml bottle served in a pint glass. A: Pours a hazy light orange color forming a huge aired white head. Good retention and lots of soapy and ligering lacings formed and left in the glass. S: Strong notes of sweet pale malts and grassy, and piny hops in the nose. Strong notes of grapefruit and orange. T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of tropical fruits and pine. Strong notes of pale malts and grassy hops. Crispy. Medium bitterness. Grapefruit. A bit metallic. M: Light body. Medium carbonation. Very smooth body which is a quality of AleSmith beers ALWAYS! Crispy sweet malts and grassy and pinny hops in the aftertaste. O: Great drinkability. Just another AleSmith masterpiece!

Pours a bit cloudy light orange with moderate head, diminishing with good lacing. Pine, citrus (grapefruit for sure) and grassy nose. Easy drinking, pretty well balanced but a bit too much grass & grapefruit for my taste.

ElManana (509) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - DEC 4, 2014
Pours yellow with non-excistent head which fades quickly. Aroma has lots of pineapple, citrus, fruity. Superb smell, gotta love this. Taste is hoppy, sweet malts. Goes into a perfectly balanced bitterness that makes this beer especially refreshing. Fantastic Pale Ale, I love this much more than their IPA accually.

Draft at El Dorado. Pours almost clear gold with a creamy off white head and tons of lacing. Tastes like dry pale malt, smooth lemon and grapefruit, some dry pine, some alcohol. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like grapefruit, light pine, musky, resin, pale malt.

rather pale and clear, nice head. American piney hop aromas, very interesting. Super nice citrus and some flowery hay/earthy taste. Something very distinct, yet very drinkable and great Pale Ale. It?s too rare that one has the opportunity to have something like this.

Bottle. Pours a very hazy dark golden color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose has some citrus and pine coming through, and just seems super fresh. Taste is slightly bitter, and just a bit crisp, with good clean hop flavors coming through. Really quite pleasant.

On tap at the brewery. It poured a golden/yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of lemon, pine, grass and some sweet malts. The taste was of biscuits, malts, citrus, and some pine and resinous bitterness. Very nice.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5078) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 18, 2014
Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a slightly hazy very pale yellow color with a small fluffy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was dryish and bitter with vague fruity hops and a touch of herbal hops. The flavor was thin and bitter with sharp fruity and floral hosp with a faint tangy undertone. Medium length finish. Light body. Meh.
