COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our Yulesmith Seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.
Summer Yulesmith’s citrusy aroma pairs well with many Mexican and Thai dishes, while its bitterness complements the sweetness of rich pork dishes like BLTs or spare ribs. Brawny, intensely flavored cheeses like Danish blues and aged white cheddars are also an effective foil to the aggressive flavor profile of this Imperial IPA.
Serve in a Pint at 45-50*F.

For an Imperial IPA, YuleSmith was surprisingly sweet. Granted, the bottle I drank from had a fair amount of age on it, and the hop bitterness had been completely muted. The hop notes hinted at tangerine and berry. The big, sweet malt backbone is what really caught my attention. It provided a whole lot of caramel flavor and aroma. While I’d like to try a fresher batch for comparison, YuleSmith made an impression by being one of the most palatable Imperial IPA’s I’ve ever tried.

(Thanks Chris "Budznsudz") Bottle. A- Caramel, Butterscotch, citrus, bread. A- Dark yellow color, super cloudy liquid, minimal head. T- Caramel, slight bitterness, citrus, anise, licorice. P- Medium body, average texture, little carbonation, spiced finish. O- You could tell it had some age on it as there was virtually no head to a beer that was suppose to be super heady. The flavors and aromas were crazy. Lots of caramels mixed with fruits, and some anise notes towards the finish. Pretty complex and a solid beer.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a hazy straw yellow with nice white head. Lots of lacing. Excellent citrus aroma. Taste is grapefruit, orange, spices with hints of caramel and pine. Supremely well balanced for a double IPA with excellent bitter taste. Medium bodied with a carbonated, crisp mouthfeel. Great IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at good attitude beer shop in Mendrisio Wonderful double IPA. As they told me, it has a big problem...makes you sleep after one glass! A lot of hops, little bit winey and very alcoholic.

Bottle @Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Pours an almost clear light amber with a fairly large frothy white head. Aroma is grapefruit, peach, apricot, pine, resin, dew grass. Taste is grapefruit, honey, resin, peach, apricot, orange, caramel, pine. Mouthfeel is somewhat carbonated and a bit coarse, but not unpleasantly so. Aftertaste is pine, grapefruit and perfectly balanced hop bitterness. Just great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

66cl Bottle, thanks Gideon! It’s actually called YuleSmith Summer Holiday Ale (nowadays?). Clear golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of strawberry jam, pine, grapefruit, citrus, caramel. Flavour is medium-sweet, light-malty, hint of toast, caramel, pine, grass, grapefruit, citrus, decent hoppy pine bitter finish with some resin. Medium-bodied. The beer was a bit old I guess, but still quite nice.

Couleur or, peu de mousse.

Nose of citrus witty a tinge of sweetness. Taste is interesting. I can’t put a finger on the subtle flavor that you don’t see in IPA’s. Different and very good at same time.

Has an aroma that is full of citrus, particularly grapefruit and hops. Taste is similar but very crisp and refreshing. Tastes like I waited a little too long to drink it but still very good.
