Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our Yulesmith Seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.
Summer Yulesmith’s citrusy aroma pairs well with many Mexican and Thai dishes, while its bitterness complements the sweetness of rich pork dishes like BLTs or spare ribs. Brawny, intensely flavored cheeses like Danish blues and aged white cheddars are also an effective foil to the aggressive flavor profile of this Imperial IPA.
Serve in a Pint at 45-50*F.

Bottle, 22oz, at Mikkeller. It’s an almost clear one, dark golden in color and topped by a two-finger white head leaving some lacings. Fruityness, pine cones, peppery hints, a whiff of alcohol and a sweetish maltyness in the aroma. The flavor has sweetness and hoppyness well blended, with resin, fruityness, some alcohol and a nice bitterness. Full body, nice carbonation and some warmth. Lasting bitterness with pine cones. Nice. 110528

Bottled as "YuleSmith Holiday Ale" (Vasa session). Hazy orange color, huge off-white head. Strong nose of mango, rye, berries and bread. Bitter, fruity, toffee, malty flavor. There is some cracker maltyness and citrusy notes. Drinkability is nice. Could be more complex and bottle could be more fresh, but overall quite good DIPA.

Hazy orangey-amber colour. Deep orangey hop aroma with pine and earthy amber malts. Very bitter and hugely orangey, piney. Chewy malt backbone helps balance things out.

Bottle courtesy of nbutler11, thank you sir! Bright golden color, hi carb, huge ice cream cone head with great retention. Great aroma of pine and lime. Flavor has tons of citrus, light pine, but great sweet malt balance. Scant and subtle bitterness. Wonderful.
