Commercial Description:
YuleSmith is a quenching, hoppy "double" IPA. Appearance: Clear copper color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Flavor: Starts out with a bite of hops, but a perfect balance of maltiness and a dry finish leave you thirsting for that next sip. Aroma: The aroma starts with a heady citrusy and floral feel, and a slight overtone of vanilla. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Warm mouthfeel from the high alcohol content. Feels lush and full in the mouth.

Bomber, courtesy of Yonkers65 -- thanks!

Pours a nice yellow-orange with a huge offwhite head. Spectacular hop aroma, floral and grapefruit, wonderfully leafy and juicy; I’m feeling generous but today this one nearly pulls a 10.

The flavor is less impressive; a strong powerful bitterness (resin, orange peel) mingles with a somewhat vegatal off-taste as the malts step up and try to make themselves known. The flavor avoids the sweet caramel IIPA trap, but it doesn’t have the juicy loveliness of say Moynan’s hopsickle. We do get an impressively bitter, Ruinition-style long end of the finish. Mouthfeel is warm and a little bit sticky , but not too much so for an IIPA.

Overall, it’s a very nice beer, but it’s not necessarily the holy grain of hops that I thought it might have been. So far as inaccessible-in-Washington hop bombs from San Diego go, I’d prefer a Green Flash IPA any day.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with dirty matini. Pours a cloudy gold with a moderate white head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and nicely laced the glass. Very pleasant aroma of citrus and pine in about equal proportion. The flavor is caramel malt up front which is then washed over by citrus and pine hops, with a bit more emphasis on the pine and not as fruity as the aroma. Bitter at the finish but not lingering. As the beer warms, there is an ever so slight alcohol flavor that emerges. Overall a very solid IIPA.

Big Thanks to Swolf3 for the bottle

22oz bottle pours a hazy golden with a small but nice looking head that leaves behind some decent lacing. Aromas of hops have faded I think, smells more malty almost like a strong ale rather than a IIPA, kind of weird judging it by color then the aromas. Flavors are still hop strong with pine and citrus coming through with a definite malt presence.

My favorite double IPA. Lots of hops of course. Has the hint of fresh oranges that is so great in double IPAs. Grapefruit and pine. Huge head. Not too sweet.

Summer edition. Was kept at a warm temp 85 Degrees so keep that in mind when I rate the appearance. Appearance: poured a golden orange with a thick frothy head that while disapating turned rocky. Smell: huge citrus and grapefruit notes mixed with some signifigant pine and floral aromas. Taste: huge citrus/ grapefruit hop flavor, on second swill alcohol is very present on the after taste. Palate: good, but rather acidic and alcohol potent on the after taste, definitely an enamel dissolver, but thats what you expect from a solid IPA

Pours a golden orange with a nice sized head, good lacing. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, caramel. Sweet with a solid bitterness.
