Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our Yulesmith Seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.
Summer Yulesmith’s citrusy aroma pairs well with many Mexican and Thai dishes, while its bitterness complements the sweetness of rich pork dishes like BLTs or spare ribs. Brawny, intensely flavored cheeses like Danish blues and aged white cheddars are also an effective foil to the aggressive flavor profile of this Imperial IPA.
Serve in a Pint at 45-50*F.

Bottle Pours a murky amber with a good fizzy off white head. Lasts fairly well and has better than average lacing. The aroma is a wonderful mix of malts and hops. Has good chocolate, carmel malts and nice pine and grapefruit hops. The real pleasure is when it hits your mouth. Has a great carbonation with a medium body. Wonderful flavors for both the malt and hops. An excellent durationand an even better ending, no strong aftertaste but just enough to keep you hoping you don’t run out. Finish has the perfect amount of bitterness. This is IMHO the best beer I have had. The great people at Ale Smith must distribute east immediately.

Schade, leider alte Flasche. Alter Hopfen, Harzig, malzig, leicht fruchtig. Am Gaumen bitter, hopfig, Malzkörper ausgeprägt. Süffig, ok.

WYGLĄD: Barwa złota, opalizujące. Piana drobna, średniej wysokości, trwała i obfita. Ładny "lacing".
AROMAT: Bardzo słodki aromat landrynki, ewentualnie multiwitamina, ale do rzeczy: karmelkowa ziołowość, aromat przypominający herbatę Earl Grey, tropikalne owoce (ananas, kokos, liczi, marakuja), słodkie cytrusy (pomelo, mandarynka, pomarańcz).
SMAK: Z początku świeży cytrusowy, choć bez specjalnej goryczki, a za chwilę karmelowo-ziołowy. Alkohol rozgrzewa przełyk, ale mógłby być nieco lepiej ukryty. Goryczka średnia do niskiej.

Thanks to John for sharing! Pours a pretty honey color with an off-white head. The smell is pine, toasted malt. The taste is pine, sweet malt, ending bitter and dry. The body is medium with nice fine carbonation.

Many thanks to John for sharing. Great floral but sweetish body. Fresh, easy to drink but you taste the alcohol. Bitter, malty, smooth but for me much too sweet.

Bottle at home. Hazy orange colour with white head leaving lots of lace. Stunning outlook. Aroma is lot of sweet fruit, sweet malts and some backround spruce. Taste is well balanced with malts and grapefruit bitterness with hint of alcohol in back. Almoust full bodied. Excellent beer.

0,65 l bottle from Bierkompass, bottled on 6/5/2014. Minimally hazy, golden orange with a huge, fine pored, foamy, stable, white head leaving some nice lacings on the glass. Very fruity aroma of grapefruit, lemon, orange, passion fruit and mango with honey, resin, pine and biscuits behind in the background. A little touch of alcohol is in there as well. Really intense, sweetish, citrusy taste with the honey, resin, pine and biscuits being more noticeable than in the aroma. The finish is not overly bitter or long, but with a sharp and peppery alcoholic note. Medium to full body, oily and creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very good DIPA with a heavy, tropical nose and a satisfying taste and mouthfeel. Only the finish deserves some critics as I would have preferred less alcohol and more hop bitterness. That’s moaning on a very high level, though. Awesome beer!
