COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our Yulesmith Seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.
Summer Yulesmith’s citrusy aroma pairs well with many Mexican and Thai dishes, while its bitterness complements the sweetness of rich pork dishes like BLTs or spare ribs. Brawny, intensely flavored cheeses like Danish blues and aged white cheddars are also an effective foil to the aggressive flavor profile of this Imperial IPA.
Serve in a Pint at 45-50*F.

Pours a clear copper orange with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is floral hops, citrus, some pine and a faint bit of sweet malt. Flavors are grassy floral hops with some alcohol. Smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. Well balanced throughout. A great DIPA. Very refreshing and drinkable.

Bottle picked up from Julio’s in MA. Pour was pale golden, good head and excellent lacing. Bready aroma with some citrus. This is really malty, yet not heavy and a moderate hop backbone. Hops are a complex blend of citrus, resin and earthiness. Fairly well balanced. Haven’t had the winter version recently enough to compare. :( Another enjoyable brew from AleSmith.

Bomber. Pours a beautiful golden color. Thick, dense, pillowy head leaves some substantial lacing. Aromas of grapefruit and pine resin abound. Taste follows with pine resin and grapefruit showing heavily. A bit sweet with the malt, but the lingering bitterness makes up for that. Medium body with a dry bitter finsh. Just a bit of alcohol making its presence known. Hop forward West Coast DIPA.

Bomber packaged 05/01/14. Must try fresher some time and re-rate, cuz yeah, this be oxidized. It also has diacetyl. Dammit! Pours clear amber with a frothy white head. Appearance is absolutely beautiful. Can tell it used to be hoppy, but all that’s left is some bitter cardboard. And butter. The hops may have covered up the diacetyl when it was fresh, but now it’s very apparent. Not too happy right now.

22oz bottle from Downer Wine and Spirits. Pours a clear amber color with a big white head and some lacing. Aroma is hoppy, orange, tangerine, some pine. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, bread, nutty, bitter pine hops, some grapefruit, with a dry, bitter finish. Very nice.

Pours a light golden-yellow, with middling head. Aroma is very sweet-- bready, malty, fruity. Flavor has a ton of bitter, piney hops in the forefront, with citrus flavors, bready/malty sweetness and a touch of alcohol/booziness. Very nice DIPA.

Pale amber with rocky off-white head. Nose is hot with meaty orange citrus, grapfruit and pine. Flavor is deep orange and grapefruit bitterness with pine to round it out. Sticky malt backing match. Alcohol is a bit noticeable and detracts a bit in combination with the strong bitterness. Overall, still a solid brew.

Bottle. Pours orange with white head. Aroma is strong citrus, very very hoppy. Taste is very piney and citrusy, resinous, thick and flavorful. A really delicious beer!

22 oz bottle, bottled on 5/1/14. Pours clear golden orange with a huge frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet sugary fruits and some resiny piney peppery hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malts with some fruit and a big piney, resiny hop bitterness that lingers in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a solid DIPA. I remember liking the winter version better.

A moderate light orange liquid topped with a respectable but soft, off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, sweet oranges (wow!) and pine resin. Malt does not override the hops, but makes it terribly sweet and easy to swill. Be careful of this one! The moderate bitterness clings for only a short while but the underlying malty sweetness is a little cloying for me. Loved it cold, am liking it less as it warms. Still a very good brew, but not staying with me.
