Previously known as Winter YuleSmith.

Welcome to the holidays! Double Red IPA arrives each year as the weather turns cool and our cravings for winter warmers begin. This Imperial Red Ale has an intense hop aroma with well-balanced caramel malt sweetness. The intense American hoppiness builds on the substantial malt backbone to deliver a full-flavored beer with a ton of complexity.

660ml bottle served in a snifter. Pours a cloudy dark amber color forming a big, creamy and persistent tan head with lots of soapy style lacings formed and left in the glass. Nose is sweet, fruity and of course, very flowery. Strong notes of caramel and grass. Notes of nuts, raisin, pine, resin and zest. Slightly sweet upfront taste. Strong notes of caramel and grapefruit followed by a punchy piny and grassy hops bitterness. Hints of nuts, roasted malts and raisin. Very smooth texture expected from all AleSmiths I’ve ever had. Great bittersweet balance. Full body. Average carbonation. Caramel, grapefruit and pine in the aftertaste. Great drinkability. Masterpiece.

On tap a Csakajosor. Cereal malts aroma. Sweet sugary malts with a honey boozey finish. Interesting how the bitterness creeps in, but still far from the best Alesmith. Extra point for sneaky booze at 8.6%

Flaska bishops. Rostfärgad kulör. Doft av druva och spannmål. Smak av russin, säd och lite citrus. Vill minnas att färskare varianter varit betydligt blommigare. Denna känns dock ganska ok trots "lagringen".

The new incarnation of the famed Winter Yulesmith. At BeerTemple, shared by Jasper of Arendsnest, cheers! Cobweb lacing, pale greyish white head over a hazy burgundy coloured beer with deep vermillion red glow. Aroma of pink grapefruit, candied orange, hazelnut, sweet onion, pink pepper, biscuit, wormwood. Restrained and well-placed sweetishness in the mouth surrounded by a light umami edge, spritzy carbo, smooth and resinous caramelly and nutty malt body, long hoppy finish providing gentle bitterness as well as pleasant piney and grapefruit effects retronasally. Another AleSmith beauty, not far removed from their My Bloody Valentine.

bottle @ Jungle Jims / Cincinnati OH --- Aroma of pine hops and malt. Clear brown color, beige head that doesn’t give up, bands of lace. Taste is sweet dark malt that grows into medium fizz and somewhat reserved hops that are tinged with pine. A huge brew, quite heavy, but very good anyway. It is difficult to finish the bomber by myself. I could have it again.

Dark red and full-bodied. Rich aroma and flavour of spicy hops on top of a solid malt profile. Moderately sweet taste with high bitterness. Overall, a great DIPA. Full taste and great balance.
