Welcome to the holidays! Double Red IPA arrives each year as the weather turns cool and our cravings for winter warmers begin. This Imperial Red Ale has an intense hop aroma with well-balanced caramel malt sweetness. The intense American hoppiness builds on the substantial malt backbone to deliver a full-flavored beer with a ton of complexity.

Seems like a bit of a legacy rating going on here. Still, very good big malt red ipa with some light bittering hops aroma. Pours maroon with ok head and lacing. Some copper aroma. Bitter finish. Not bad but not a 100% beer. Easy to drink but not incredible. Tap at Galaxy Hut.

FINALLY get to try this! Bottled on 11/11/15. Pours a beautiful deep mahogany with a thick bubbly beige head. Medium intensity aroma of pine, bread and toasted malts. The flavor has notes of grapefruit and a dump truck of resiny piney hops balanced by a pleasant caramel sweetness. A tinge of light roastiness in there as well. Finishes with a pleasant layer of pine sap, woodiness and caramel on the tongue. Lingering smooth bitterness. Full, round and creamy on the palate with moderate fine-beaded carbonation. Hits the mark perfectly for a big, red sticky Imperial IPA/American Strong Ale.

Finally getting to try this one, although it’s the new name. Pours deep red copper color with a large rocky off white beige head that slowly settles to a sudsy foamy film. Aroma is strong citrus resin malt pine tree sap. Taste is more big heavy citrus pine resin heavy candied malt spice and noticeable alcohol. Palate is full sticky warming and dry. It’s like a double celebration ale.
