Welcome to the holidays! Double Red IPA arrives each year as the weather turns cool and our cravings for winter warmers begin. This Imperial Red Ale has an intense hop aroma with well-balanced caramel malt sweetness. The intense American hoppiness builds on the substantial malt backbone to deliver a full-flavored beer with a ton of complexity.

Pour is a dark red with a large white head. Aroma is a dank oily hop with some sweet caramel malt. Flavor is more of the sweet caramel malt with a nice hop and something like a ripe red grape at the end. This was a decent beer with heavy malt and a decent hop. My bottle said 8.5% abv.

Bomber to a pint. Beautiful copper red with a finger of tan head and loose lacing. Sweet florals with feint citrus and pine resin. Balanced toasty caramel malt presence. One of the best Imperial Ambers!

2014 winter 8.5%. Murky color of reddish brown heady foam, good lace. Aroma is sweet vinious planty musty malty dry toast a bit of alcohol. Not real impressive and kind of a musty old nutty modly aroma. TAste is smooth creamy, caramel malts, somewhat sweet but not overly, some roast mildly and some planty hops with some mint character. From what I remember I like the summer version better, this tastes a bit old but maltier.
