COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Welcome to the holidays! Double Red IPA arrives each year as the weather turns cool and our cravings for winter warmers begin. This Imperial Red Ale has an intense hop aroma with well-balanced caramel malt sweetness. The intense American hoppiness builds on the substantial malt backbone to deliver a full-flavored beer with a ton of complexity.

Bottle. Pours with an impressive fortress of foam over a deep-red goliath. It drinks like a fresh milkshake, thick and deeply malty. Intense caramel malte is the primary sense, topped with enough of a wet hop bitterness to counter balance the oomph. Good stuff. (#6138, 2/23/2016)

I didn’t dislike this beer but felt it is highly over rated. An excessively resiny aroma. Pours a reddish brown color with a tan short lasting head. Medium body with an oily feel and a resin taste with a very bitter finish.

Draft at Mellow Mushroom in Carytown Area, Richmond The ale poured a ruddy red color with no head. You detect strong caramel malts with floral hops. The taste was more complex with hints of spice, toffee and caramel sweetness. The ale has a medium body with soft carbonation. You do sense a a warming from the higher ABV, There was always a lingering bitterness that hung on your tongue.

Draught at Himmeriget, Cph. Dark, amber colour with a golden tint. Medium sized, off-white head. Fruity aroma with citrus fruits, grasses, resin, rich caramel malts and a toasted note. Taste is bitter. Full body with a rich, creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes lasting drying and bitter with pines, citrus fruits and caramel malts. Lingering toasted notes. Excellent IIPA!

Bottle, bottled 11.11.2015 (from beergium). Pours red amber-copper with beige head. The head stays. Aroma is hoppy, pine, citrus, passionfruit, malt, caramel. Flavor is sweet and bitter, grass, citrus, grapefruit, passiofruit. Finish is very sweet and grassy-pine bitter. Alcohol is mostly covered. Overall: very well made red ipa, but I just don’t like grassy hops, hence I can’t give this higher rating.
