COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green.

Appearance: Cloudy amber color with a thick tan head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Deep malty, rich hoppy and some fruity.
Palate: Full body. A bit sweet and a rich bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Deep malty, tropical fruity and rich (grape) hoppy. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: Power beer. Maybe a bit too sweet. Anyway a lovely evening sipper.

The beer pours a murky amber color, tons of dross floating in suspension and resting on the bottom of the bottle, “Yummy”. The head is Herculean in size, the structure creamy, the color a beauteous light tan and as it evanesces, the lace forms a glutinous sheet to conceal the glass. Nose is dominated by the hop floral tones, sweet malt, fresh, crisp and clean, a real treat for the nose as well as the eyes.

Had on tap at Monkey Paw in San Diego. Pours a clear Amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is spicy and malty. Flavor is sweet toffee and caramel. Really smooth. Wow. Just a wonderful beer. Fantastic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Pours a deep dark mahogany with light but retentive head. Aromas of orange rinds, resin, toffee, and pine. Flavors of brown sugar, resin, malt extract, dark raisins, and piney hops. Light bitter finish. A little metallic but still great. Listed as an Imperial Red on the menu. Strong Ale or Barley Wine - no matter.

Malty caramel and cereal aroma. Pours clear red with a white head. Good balanced flavors, lots of malt and good bittering with a caramel finish.

Yulesmith is a DBL. IPA for July 4th, and an Imperial Red Ale for the winter holiday season. I’d forgotten which was which til I poured this one a beautiful ruby color with a big white fluffy head. Definitely better as it warms, it has a huge malt background (lots of carmel?) and an immense hop nose and flavor profile as well. Quite smilar to Gordon ale from Oskar Blues (another awesome beer) but with a slightly heavier body. I may have to try those two side by side to see which is king..."

Obtained via trade. Another home run by AlSmith, I want this brewery in Chicago! Pours dark amber/orange with a giant off white head. Nose has a lot of caramel malt, citric hops, pine hops. Nice balance in the nose. Flavor is huge, progresses nicely from malt to hop bitterness. My kinda beer

0.65l bottle. Oh, I have been looking forward to this! Ever since I tried the Summer version I’ve been trying to get a hold on this one, and all of a sudden it showed up, completely surprising at my local Vinmonopol. In the glass this is a crystal clear lovely deep ruby amber colored one with a medium sized really lingering dark khaki top that’s leaving some serious lacings down the glass. Not much to hold back on the looks really. Love the aroma. Super sticky, fruit, sweet and malty. There’s nuts and figs, those sweet red small plums, lost or sweet raisins and some red fruits. So much aroma and it’s just getting stronger and more powerful after a while in the glass. Lovely. Not much to say on the taste either. It has a thick oily feeling in the mouth while the carbonation is just above average and a little prickling. Really malty big flavors here. Lots of red sweet fruits with strong nutty tones like the way. No alcohol noted at all her, just some faint spicy tones dancing in the back. Ends really peppery with a nice hoppy stingy burp. A lovely sipper that I want to stock up on. Nice! 06.01.2014

Color caoba con espuma marfil densa. Aromas de pino, resinas, toffe, caramelo y ligero cafe. Cuerpo medio, inicio dulce de tigre y caramelo, equilibrado con un amargor intenso, seco y resinoso. Muy rica.
