During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green.

I believe in Santa Claus! Pours clear red brown with white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, grape fruit and some spices. It really stings your nose in a wonderful hoppy way. Taste is strong with citrus peel, grape fruit and its end with a great bitter dry finish. Lovely!

Yulesmith is a DBL. IPA for July 4th, and an Imperial Red Ale for the winter holiday season. Iíd forgotten which was which til I poured this one a beautiful ruby color with a big white fluffy head. Definitely better as it warms, it has a huge malt background (lots of carmel?) and an immense hop nose and flavor profile as well. Quite smilar to Gordon ale from Oskar Blues (another awesome beer) but with a slightly heavier body. I may have to try those two side by side to see which is king..."

Obtained via trade. Another home run by AlSmith, I want this brewery in Chicago! Pours dark amber/orange with a giant off white head. Nose has a lot of caramel malt, citric hops, pine hops. Nice balance in the nose. Flavor is huge, progresses nicely from malt to hop bitterness. My kinda beer

0.65l bottle. Oh, I have been looking forward to this! Ever since I tried the Summer version Iíve been trying to get a hold on this one, and all of a sudden it showed up, completely surprising at my local Vinmonopol. In the glass this is a crystal clear lovely deep ruby amber colored one with a medium sized really lingering dark khaki top thatís leaving some serious lacings down the glass. Not much to hold back on the looks really. Love the aroma. Super sticky, fruit, sweet and malty. Thereís nuts and figs, those sweet red small plums, lost or sweet raisins and some red fruits. So much aroma and itís just getting stronger and more powerful after a while in the glass. Lovely. Not much to say on the taste either. It has a thick oily feeling in the mouth while the carbonation is just above average and a little prickling. Really malty big flavors here. Lots of red sweet fruits with strong nutty tones like the way. No alcohol noted at all her, just some faint spicy tones dancing in the back. Ends really peppery with a nice hoppy stingy burp. A lovely sipper that I want to stock up on. Nice! 06.01.2014

Color caoba con espuma marfil densa. Aromas de pino, resinas, toffe, caramelo y ligero cafe. Cuerpo medio, inicio dulce de tigre y caramelo, equilibrado con un amargor intenso, seco y resinoso. Muy rica.

Copper-reddish clear beer with big blonde head leaving lacing on the glass. Aroma is heavily sweet with caramelly malts, dark bready malts, piney hops and some spiciness. Flavor has sweet caramel, salty licorice and piney hops plus some wood. Palate is full and soft. Finishes with a smoothly fading bitterness, leaving licoricy aftertaste with heat of alcohol. Maybe this would be better in fresher form, but good for slow sipping.

At Zeebra Beer Festival, THX to everybody sharing todayís beers. APPEARANCE: clear dark blond beer, small stable off white head. NOSE: hoppy, fruity, florar, nice. TASTE: hoppy, rather sweet, little caramel, decent overall, but liked the nose more.

Despite the promise of the description, itís quite a forgettable beer. Just a strong red ale, with some artificial fruits. Meh.
