Note-reviewing the Winter release:This beer pours a delicious copper color and leaves a thick vanilla lace head that clings to the glass. The smell of this beer is crisp, hoppy, lemon, grapefruit, gummi candy. As I taste this beer the hop bitterness hits you with a candied lemon rind flavor followed by a taste of grapefruit. This beer is so smooth I can’t believe it is almost 9%. The alcohal is absolutely hidden, this is a fantastic double.

Dec 3, 2008 Thanks to doubleo for the bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown with a off white head, decent lacing. Aromas of pine, caramel malt, and some alcohol. Flavors are similar caramel malts, and spicy hops. This is a big yet wonderfully balanced beer. I really enjoyed this bottle. Thanks again doubleo!

Dec 2, 2008 On tap at The Neighborhood in San Diego. Dark ruby brown. Spicy and grassy aroma, quite herbal. Sweet dark caramel, lots of sweet spice, crisp capsicum-like bitter finish. A bit of an odd choice of hops, but it works!

Nov 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours red with thick off white head. Aroma is pine, malt, grass. Flavor is well balanced with malts leading the way, then citrus in the back. Very smooth finish.

The beer pours a murky deep crimson with a frothy beige head with thick soapy lacing.
Strong earthy citrus, and floral notes with huge amounts of sweet malt in the nose.
The first thing that hit you is the bitterness. Then comes the malt and citrus.
Huge body and a very chewy mouthfeel. Very warming. A very tasty and well made beer. Yet another reason to look forward to the holiday season!

Nov 27, 2008 22oz bottle. Dark red color with a full off white head. Very nice hop aroma, slightly grassy. Good flavor, nicely balanced and very flavorful. Great brew.
