COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously known as Winter YuleSmith.

Welcome to the holidays! Double Red IPA arrives each year as the weather turns cool and our cravings for winter warmers begin. This Imperial Red Ale has an intense hop aroma with well-balanced caramel malt sweetness. The intense American hoppiness builds on the substantial malt backbone to deliver a full-flavored beer with a ton of complexity.

Pours a copper color. Smells and tastes very hoppy. Tastes nutty. Kinda hard for me to drink.

Hazy brown with medium light brown head. Aroma is pine cone, toffee, grapefruit. Very hoppy fresh and complex. Taste is heavy malty sweetness and resiny bitterness. Medium finish. Heavy mouthfeel and quite oily. Clogs your throat. Good.

(bottle) slightly hazy deep amber colour with a frothy light-beige head. aroma of heavy caramelized malts and strawberries, with a light touch of herbal hops, some honey and lemonpeel. flavour is mostly the same, heavy caramelized malts, some alcohol and barnacles, with a light touch of mango and some more herbal hops in the light-bitter finish. medium- to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Rating #2600. Bottle. Amber-red color with tan head. Aroma is piney, toffee, caramel, grapefruit. Taste is more toffee, bitter grapefruit, piney. Heavy body, slight booze kick in the back, some cough syrup. Low carbonation. Very good, and indeed a Winter version of a Double IPA.

Intense amber color, clear and bright orange. Abundant and irregular white foam small bubble and good durability as cobweb lace leaves. Body and carbonation media. Very creamy. Without sticking your nose in the glass and sweetish fragrance, fruity and floral are divine. Initial aroma of caramel, pine, resin, fruit, orange peel and some fresh yeast. Very refreshing for a beer with such a high ranking. fabulous with lots of citrus (orange, grapefruit ...) at the start but well balanced with sweet malt hops, caramel, toffee and some fresh bread and balsamic bitter end (conifers, flowers ...) flavor.

Bottle (unfortunately not fresh). Pours dark amber with small white head. Aroma of caramel malts, bit of brown sugar (?) and light resiny hops. In taste lightly sweet, malty with caramel mixed with fruity hoppy notes. Medium body, dry finish. Nice, fresh would be far better for sure.

Couleur ambré foncé; mousse beige; arômes et goût maltés et fruités (oranges, fruits rouges); bière un peu épicée et très lègèrement sucrée; texture crémeuse; l’alcool se fait un poil trop sentir; belle finale amère et longue

Kirkas, tumman kuparinen olut, joka vaahtoaa kohtalaisen reilusti. Ei jätä juurikaan pitsiä. Tuoksu jenkkimäiseen tyyliin hyvin pihkaisen havuisesti humaloitu. Samoin havaittavissa makeampaa karamellisuutta.

660ml bottle served in a snifter. Pours a cloudy dark amber color forming a big, creamy and persistent tan head with lots of soapy style lacings formed and left in the glass. Nose is sweet, fruity and of course, very flowery. Strong notes of caramel and grass. Notes of nuts, raisin, pine, resin and zest. Slightly sweet upfront taste. Strong notes of caramel and grapefruit followed by a punchy piny and grassy hops bitterness. Hints of nuts, roasted malts and raisin. Very smooth texture expected from all AleSmiths I’ve ever had. Great bittersweet balance. Full body. Average carbonation. Caramel, grapefruit and pine in the aftertaste. Great drinkability. Masterpiece.
